“ Brand: Dyson „
Working in an office with no air conditioning, I bought one of these expensive but modern and stylish fans from John Lewis at Christmas. At £220 it was a saving rather than a spontaneous buy but for the sake of being the cool kids at the office, i bit the bullet and bought one.
Look wise, it was amazing and for a week or so i was the envy of the office, and my clients always commented on them which was a great conversation starter. effeciency wise, i was not overly impressed. For the amount of money and the saving involved, i expected better from such a leading innovative brand. Don't get me wrong it chucks out a breeze but that of one no different to any traditional fan at £20 from a local tesco.
Advantages- It is also completely bladeless, and so safe from little hands (or larger!) wanting to explore it. It is also quieter than your normal fan.
Negatives - the two reasons above are not a reason to over indugle in this product. yes it is stylish and modern, and the idea behind it fascinating, but is it really worth the price? I cannot see that it is, no. I would buy 10 reasonably priced fans and place them all around me for a greater effeciency!
Working in an office with no air conditioning, we were given the opportunity to trial these for a few days to measure their efficiency in relation to normal fans.
In summary, the Dyson is not worth the extortionate cost you pay for one relative to the cost of a normal more traditional fan.
The Dyson works through sucking air in through a turbine and then expelling it through a tiny slit in the outer casing of the fan. The noise from this machine is only marginally less than a normal fan, although you do not get the slightly annoying vibrations which you do from a normal fan. This product is, however, a lot more energy efficient than regular fans.
The 2 major positives from this product are firstly that there are no blades, so it is completely childproof. For those of you with youngsters this may be important.
Secondly, the fan does look very nice. This is not something particularly important to me - and it is difficult to justify the vastly inflated price based on these 2 items alone.
In all honesty, I cannot see Dyson selling huge amounts of these.
