I bought this for my 6 year old son who loves dressing up. This is one of the cheaper costumes he has and this is reflected in how much he uses it (I say cheaper but it was still £15). I think he has worn it about 3 or 4 times in total. He says he isnt dressed up when he wears it!! This may be because it is just a cheap looking polyester top which is very thin and equally thin green trousers also made from polyester. The trousers look a bit like leggings which is also a bit off putting for a boy. I got him the age 5-7 and as he is small for his age outfits normally drown him but not this one, it is very snug and he has only just turned 6. The outfit comes complete with a pretend foam omnitrix watch which my son laughed at when he saw it. it would have been better if it was plastic not foam.
This outfit would be good as a pair of PJs if it was cotton but as it is nylon it just sits in my sons dressing up box untouched. I would say its a waste of money and to buy an outfit thats a little more expensive. The only plus it has is that it washes quite well, if the white top gets stained they wash out easily and it never needs ironing.
Brought this for my son for Christmas. He loves dressing up so knew this would be a hit. I brought it for £12 on the internet and glad I didn't pay anymore. As much as my son loves it, I wasn't that impressed with the quality of it. The material isn't that great and the white top is more grey/white then white! All this aside, my son is happy and I suppose that is the most important thing. I brought the 3 - 5 years and this fits well as my son is 3 1/2, although not sure he will fit in it when he is 5 so they probably do come up a little small. The costume has washed well with stains coming out every time and the logo staying intact.
I do recommend this product as fancy dress is an important part of play but I would say its probably best to look around for the best price as the quality is not 100%.
I bought this outfit for my four year old who is Ben 10 mad!
As he is quite tall for his age I thought I best get him the 5-7 yrs....
Should have got him the 9-10yrs!
The top fit OK, if not a little short, but the trousers were ridiculously small, they are a 17" inside leg!!!
My 4 year old has an 18" inside leg so how the hell a 7 year old is going to fit into them I don't know!
They are also very slim fitting. My son is very slim and I always have trouble finding trousers that fit him around the waist without being too short in the leg, but these trousers were very fitted on him. Unstretched, they are a 17"waist. They are very stretchy but an average or slightly larger boy may find them uncomfortable.
When they call it a Value costume, they mean it! It does look very 'value'. The material (100% polyester) is pretty nasty, it is also single stitched, so may not last as long as you might expect.
The top is quite nice apart from a split down the back that has two sets of velcro squares to do it up. I don't think there was any need for this, as the outfit is just like a normal outfit so could have been left as a T-shirt. My son always waears them on their own anyway as clothes upon clothes are just uncomfortable.
They wash well and don't need ironing. They also come with a 'watch'. This is a long, rectangular strip of foam with a pattern of Ben's watch on it that is fastened with velcro. Not great up close but completes the outfit, although if your son is as big of a Ben 10 fan as mine, they will already have a watch to wear anyway.
All in all, not a very well made outfit and very skimpy with the material. They vary in price. It's great if you find it cheap for £5-8, but maybe go with a different brand if it costs more than that (like mine did!).
Up until a year ago I had no idea who Ben 10 was, fast forward one year and I now have a house full of Ben 10 stuff.......jigsaws,figures,dvds,the omnitrix (Ben 10's watch for those who are not familiar)bags, lunch boxes. Everything you could associate with the programme, my 5 year old boy is just obsessed and if you have boys of a similar age I am sure you will understand how I feel.
Ben 10 is a program on cartoon network about a 10 year old boy who discovers a watch which turns him into 10 different aliens. Travelling with his Grandpa Max and cousin Gwen Ben turns into these aliens to fight the bad guys.
I have just bought the Ben 10 costume from Amazon for £10 for my son's birthday and he absolutely loves it. It consists of some green combat trousers, a white t'shire with a black strip down it and the Ben 10 logo on it and a foam omnitrix. It is sized for ages 3-5 and it fits perfectly on my son who is 5 but small for his age. He has now worn it several times and it has been washed several times and it is still as good as new.
The material is quite thin and you can tell it as a 'value' costume but I think it is perfect for children as it is a lot cheaper than other outfits I have bought and often after a while they just get forgot about anyway,so why spend a fortune.
To conclude I think this is a good purchase for all the young Ben 10 fans out there, children love to dress up and you shouldn't have to spend a lots to allow them to do this.
I am sure anyone who is reading this with a son around the 6-8 year old age, then they are probably well aware of who Ben 10 is.
For those of you who do not know, it is a craze that seems to be very popular with young boys at the moment especially this time last year when the toys and lunchboxes etc were going out of stock as soon as they were coming in at most shops, it was a complete nightmare....we had to order a lunchbox and waited five weeks for it to com back in stock.
Ben 10 is a cartoon that is shown on Cartoon network about a little 10 year old boy called Ben Tennyson whom can change into ten different aliens who have special powers, he does this through a watch type device around his wrist called an omnitrix he then battles Evil.
My little boy started by collecting the figures and watching the cartoons, but then they decided to bring out the movie, and from that point on he kept begging us to get him the costume, well his grandma brought him the pyjamas, not what he wanted but still well he wore them so much and kept pretending he was Ben that we decided for his birthday we would have to get him the dress up outfit or we'd never hear the last of it.
The dress up outfit consists of;
Green combat type trousers
White short sleeved t-shirt with the black stripe down the front and cuffs and collar (with the Ben 10 emblem on)
A pretend omnitrix watch made out of foam (although my son had the ominitrix toy watch brought for him from a relative)
I have washed them on a cool wash probably about 5-6 times and they have stayed really nice, another good point I found with this costume was that because its just like a normal outfit, it was not too bad when you needed to pop to the shops and he was still wearing them.....much less embarrassing than taking him to Tesco's in his hulk costume!!
The bad points I feel is the size, it is meant to be suitable for children 5-7 years old, and to be honest my son is six and I do not think he will get away with wearing it much longer, and he is not exactly a big six by any means, I think it should be more like 4-6 years at the most, the t-shirt seems a little short in size too, but Joseph always wears a vest underneath, so not too bad, I did look into this before buying and a lot of people seemed to say that the size was not brilliant, but I got it cheap and it was worth it as he has had so much enjoyment from this outfit.
Overall I would say that this outfit is a good buy and if your child love Ben 10 than they will love running around pretending to change into aliens and fighting baddies!! but I would warn people not to expect it too last to long as like I said size wise the costume is not very generous.
Toyrus are selling the costume at the moment for 7.49 and if you spend 40.00 on the Ben 10 range you get a free omintrix watch for free, may be a good buy for Christmas presents.
Dress up as your superhero for the day. For ages 3 to 5 years.
