“ Brand: Casdon / Type: Housewares „
My youngest daughter is very into make believe and loves playing with her dolls bathing them and putting them to bed and then using her toy hoover to clean up. Last month she turned 2 and having an older sister so a lot of toy which have been passed down we were struggling for what we could buy her. I had a scan through Amazon in the 3-4 category as even though she was turning 2 I often think some older toys are actually fine for a younger child and I came across this set.
I was actually put off a little by the fact that the set is by Casdon simply because my children have only ever had one set from the company and it was pretty poor but looking around I couldn't find a set like it so decided to give it a chance. I bought the set from Amazon for £19.99 which included delivery which I think is a decent price for this type of set.
The set came in a cardboard box and was easy to unpack which I like as sometimes it is really difficult to free toys from their packaging and when you child wants to play with it and you can't get it out of the box it can be rather stressful.
The set comprises of a mini iron which is branded Morphy Richards not that my daughter would be concerned whether it had a brand or not but my older daughter is intrigued by the fact that Grandmas iron says the same as her sisters iron she it's impressed her at least. The iron actually is able to spray water too but I don't put water in it as I know the girld would just spray each other with it as for all they love each other they do like to wind each other up. You get a folding clothes horse which is purple in colour and has two halfs to it each side has the top and then two extra rungs to it. Within the set you also get 4 little purple hangers to put your clothes on after you have ironed them (all pretend of course).
The ironing board is about half a metre tall which is the only point at which I would see you can tell this should be for an older child (recommended for ages 3 and up) but my daughter still quite happily plays with the ironing board, the board is adjustable so is about 45cms at it's smallest and 55cms at it's tallest. The ironing board is also easy to fold down for myself and my 5 year old but my younger daughter cannot yet manage it yet.
My daughter really loves playing with this set, she tortures me when she is playing with it however as she cannot manage to put the clothes on the hangers herself and so she pretends to iron a piece of clothing and then brings it to me with a hanger. The airer is a little bit of a pain and often falls apart which means with a heavy handed 2 year old I am often putting it back together and for all it isn't hard to put back together it is annoying. When the airer is up my daughter likes to pinch the underwear from my airer and put them on her own so when I am folding my washing I have to check her airer for clothes too but at least she is trying to be helpful.
Apart from the airer the set seems pretty durable although it has only been in use for about 5-6 weeks my daughter does play with it a lot and it has been bashed about a fair bit especially the iron and the board. I think this is a decent set and it has restored my faith in the Casdon range so I might see what else is available for christmas.
Folding clothes horse including 4 clothes hangars. Brilliant role play fun ironing.
