Last year my daughter was brought this for her second birthday by my brother he did not realise Connor already had one that was still going strong but when my daughter opened it she was delighted to have one all for her own.
When I first opened the box I was put off by how many pieces needed to be put together after having a quick look at the instructions I decided to wait for my partner to put it together. Once he was home it took him around 5 minutes to fully assemble the trolley and then we were ready to go.
The main body of the trolley is metal although the handles and wheels are plastic which in all makes for a very sturdy toy which is great around toddlers. The trolley is made up of bright colours green purple and yellow which helps hold little ones attention.
Overall it is a well made toy the trolley is a good size nice and deep to hold the shopping toys, and all round is a practical toy and does what it is needed to do. The handles are nice and wide allowing plenty of room for little one and there are grooves on the handles so that they can get a good hold.
Both my daughter now 3 and son 19 months love pushing this trolley round and they can do so independently very easily the wheels look very shoddy at first but to be honest they have lasted well the trolley is easy to push and the wheels never get stuck so I really shouldn't have judged them straight away.
What we found is because the main bars are made from metal rather than plastic it has lasted a lot longer than we thought it would as it was so cheap for my brother to purchase. It has had daily use by both my son and daughter has been involved in trolley crashes bashed into the wall and all round rough play you would expect from 2 exploring toddlers.
My only downside to this trolley is the accessories that come with it there are a few plastic items and plastic tins but on the whole you receive a sheet off boxes to make up yourself. These have all the brand names on them birds eye, Kellogg's etc and although they are ok at the start once they become used in play they become tatty very easily and it results in me having to remake the boxes every play time in the end we decide to use the plastic play pieces only and all the boxes went in the recycling.
This trolley is recommended from 3 years plus my daughter received it for her second birthday and it was just the right size for her she still uses it now over a year later and there is not any sign of wear on the trolley itself. Some of the play food has become squashed and the tins have had their labels removed but apart from that it is still going strong. It retails at around £10 for what you get I think that is a bargain.
I would recommend a toy play food set maybe the 100 piece one from Chad valley or the elc set just for the added fun and for some fun role play for your little one as the accessories with this one are not much good. We have recently brought her a supermarket set and this goes perfect with it and we have 1 happy girl.
My daughter is a huge fan of anything she considers as "girly" such as many role playing toys such as kitchen equipment, shopping equipment, washing stuff...... Now by no stretch of the imagination am I a domestic goddess, you only have to ask my husband, but I think if my daughter continues the way she is going then she may make someone a very very good wife!!!! Silly girl!!
She has always liked going to Tesco's with me and loves helping with the trolley, both putting our shopping list in and also trying to push it around with me, normally we run over quite a few people on our shopping trips!!!!
I brought Isabella the Casdon trolley from TK Maxx it costs 9.99 (plus my brothers discount..hehe!) and I think it was a good buy from what fun and enjoyment she has got from it, she loves playing in our kitchen, emptying my food cuboards pretending she id at tesco's shopping for her dollies and teddies.
The height of the trolley is 48 cms and is recommended age range of 3 years plus, its all in bright colours, green, purple and yellow, it has googly eyes on the trolley as well, not sure why they think them necessary as it's a bit weird having a trolley with eyes, but oh well....Isabella does not tend to mind so much.
The down side of this product is the food to be honest, the boxes all get crumpled and ruined very quickly, my daughter kept opening the boxes while playing, which I think most curious toddlers would, I think she only has 2 or 3 of the original play food what came with set, and I think these were the cans, I would recommend getting the food from Early Learning Centre as they have got a nice set of plastic food which is much nicer and lasts a lot longer, its not the fault of the product as all these trolley sets tend to come with cardboard food same with the toy washing machines etc they always come with cardboard washing powders and three year olds need things that are durable and stable, so I do not think most people end up keeping all the boxes that come along with products like this.
Another tip for this product, is if you are having problems getting your children to eat certain things, then take their trolley with them to the shops with a little list of some of those problem foods on a list, and allow them to find these products and put them in their trolley, I swear it does wonders, my daughter had a problem with carrots and apples since she started to eat solids to be honest, but I tried this with her and because she felt like such a grown up and felt such encouragement she now eats carrots, and will have a little apple....so a good role playing toy that can have lots of added benefits, even if you have a little one who can be a bit naughty when taking shopping, this would be a good way to get them involved and may make your shopping trip slightly easier.......or just sod it and order on line!!!!! Hehe!!!
I would always recommend trying TK Maxx as they always tend to do Casdon products as very reasonable prices.
