I am the parent of a six year old son, so most of his bedroom consists of Ben 10 goods, his passion at the moment!

My partner came home a few months ago with a large box containing a ben 10 costume, something which caused some excitement with my son as you can imagine! The costume cost him £20.99, which at the time I thought was a tad on the expensive side for a 'play' costume. However, this one was different as I realised later as this was a reversible costume - so you are getting two for one.

The first side of the costume is Ben 10 itself. You get a pair of green trousers, with the white and black ben 10 t-shirt. You also get an omnitrix (for those of you who don't know, the omnitrix is ben 10s magic watch which he uses to turn himself into different aliens to fight the world!). This omnitrix doesn't actually do anything, it is purely for effect.

The other costume is 'four arms', one of the aliens Ben uses to fight the baddies! This is my favourite costume and actually makes the pack worth its money. You simply turn the green trousers inside out, this revels a black pair of trousers. You have a separate body piece for four arms which your child places his arms through. This costume piece has a further two arms underneath which are attached to the upper arms so your child feels he has control of all four arms. Four Arms strength is his biggest attribute so this costume has a spongy chest and spongy bicep area to give the impression of being bulked up as Four Arms is.

The costume is easy to put on and my son can do it himself. The back of the t-shirt and four arms body piece attach by pieces of velcro. The costume does seem to be made of quite flimsy, cheap material in my opinion which rather disappointed me when I first saw it, but it is obviously quite robust as my son has fought the world it in and it is still as perfectly intact as the day he brought it. This costume does wash well too. As you can imagine it does require a lot of washing as he lived in it night and day when it was first brought. The material didn't bobble or shrink in the wash and it is still perfectly good even now and believe me, it has had a lot of use.

To finish the costume off, you have a four arms mask which has holes in it for eyes/nose and mouth. The mask didn't seem to fit very well. It was ok size-wise around the head area, but the eyes and nose holes seemed a bit out of place which my son found a bit frustrating as he had to keep adjusting the mask.

You can find this suit in my childrens toys stores, argos and many internet sites such as Amazon. Generally they all seem to sell it for around £20-25 which does seem expensive, but if your child is a Ben 10 fan, then it will get a lot of use and I now believe it is well worth the money. It is obviously well made, despite my first impressions not being that great and it provides hours of fun for any Ben 10 fan.

The costume is available in two sizes. The smallest one is aged 3-5 years, or you can get one aged 5-7 years. The upper body piece of the Four Arms side of things does fit quite tightly and may be a bit restrictive to children at the higher end of the age range. Due to the extra sponge to make the Four Arms costume seem bulky, this is also a very hot costume to wear so may not be suitable to play outside in during a heatwave!

Overall I was very impressed with this costume and so was my son. He has had hours of fun with it and it has stood up to the test. He has used both costumes to the max and they are still perfectly intact and still look quite new. They wash well and definitely make your child look the part. Although this may seem a tad expensive to seom for a fancy dress costume, I can honestly say that it is well worth it and if you have a child/grandchild who is a Ben 10 fan, then I can completely recommend you get this costume for them - the smile on their face will be well worth it!
