Advantages: pretty, girly and stable
Disadvantages: a little fiddley to assemble
We brought this kitchen for my 3 years old daughter for christmas last year. We brought it at toys r us for £49.99 and it was marked down half price which i thought we was getting a bargin however we was later told that most places are selling this same product for £49.99 and toys r us normally mark this kitchen up at £99.99 for a few weeks out of the year and then reduce it to the normal price to make it look like you have got a bargin. I actually phoned toys r u after finding this out and told them that they was scamming people when they put the price up and for the complaint i made i recieved extra points on my gold card.
Nothing much but it was something.
My daughter opened it on xmas day and was amazed and wanted to play with it immediately. Assembling the thing was a little tricky though. It comes in several different pieces, infact everything is in different pieces except the hob which comes as a solid piece. You need a phillips screwdriver to put it together as there are quite a few screws but nothing too fiddly really. alot of slots and grooves with screws just holding them in place and once its built it is very sturdy and doesnt rock at all ( a problem we have had with some kitchens we have brought).
The dimensions for the kitchen when assembled is
104 (h) x 68.5 (w) x 33 (d) cm
it is the perfect height for my 3 year old and we have also had 2 years olds and 7 year olds playing with the kitchen too and it not being an uncomfortable height for them.
Once you have assembled the kitchen it also gives you 2 sheets of stickers to decorate the kitchen with, i recommend you place the stickers in the same places as it looks on the box because some of the sounds are related to some of the stickers (mainly for the little cook book that is situated on top of the hob part.
It is made of pink plastic mainly with purple plastic for the turrets, oven door and some of the fancy edging on the side of the shelves part. The top where the hob is, is made of white plastic with 2 pink hobs with buttons that make cooking and boiling sounds when something is placed ontop. A sink with a tap that makes running water sounds and a flat part that your daughter can place her cups and plates and things.
It has a clock that you can move the hands, The hob buttons turn and make sounds when turned, the oven door opens downwards and there is also a little cupboard to put all the accessories in.
The kitchen also comes with Mrs Potts (kettle from beauty and the beast) cups and plates, pans, play food and cakes, cooking spoon and mobile phone (both phone and spoon hang on the hook at the side of the turrets.
It does require 2x AA batteries which are not included
The one problem i have found with this is the hob buttons can easily come off if pulled a little and i am constantly having to push them back on.
Its a light kitchen so its easily moved around but its not heavy enough for little ones to be picking up and moving themselves. It weighs 16.30KG approx).
I am really pleased with this toy, its entertaining for my daughter, infact she hasnt stopped playing with it for the past 2 weeks.
This is perect for any little girl in your family although for safety reasons it does state that it is not suitable for children under 36 months
Summary: perfect gift for any little lady
