      Fun from Asda, at about a third of the price than the Disney Store ones.

      ~~~ Disney Snow White Dress-Up Set ~~~
      My daughter is now nine years old and probably coming to the end of her dressing up days sadly. I feel I must share my thoughts about one of her favourite dressing up dresses before it goes to the big toy box in the sky, otherwise known as the loft.
      My daughter's Snow White dress differs slightly to the photograph above, and I would say it's the more classic Snow White style, with a few different quirky touches. The dress is full length and touches the floor rather than the three quarter fit that seems to be favoured in recent years. I love the longer length for dressing up, as it makes it more special, and one truly feels like a princess, well I used to anyway. I know it's a long time ago now, but you never forget that feeling that a special dress gives you. Perhaps you could liken it to a bride on her wedding day.
      The full puffed sleeves have the traditional pale blue with red inserts that Disney brought to life. They are full and voluminous and hold their shape really well due to the weight of the satin effect fabric. If this was too thin, I feel it would just look limp and lose the effect. The cuffs to the sleeves are edged in yellow satin, and are slightly elasticated for a nice fit, not to tight but neither too loose.
      The typical white, stand up collar does indeed stand up on itself, without any addition of starch. Being an Asda product I wouldn't have expected such attention to detail, but I suppose Disney don't put their name to any old rubbish, so I shouldn't have expected less really. The edges are finished off beautifully with gold piping, along with some of the same piping along the seams of the bodice. A touch of gold ruffled lace adds the icing on the cake.
      The quirky feature to this dress is the regal royal blue bodice. Rather than being a shiny satin, like the rest of the dress; this is made from glittered (faux) velvet. This isn't woven into the material which I am pleased about; the glitter sparkles have been added somehow afterwards. It looks like it's been sprayed on to my untrained eyes, but this has been permanent; in the whole eighteen months to two years my daughter has owned this dress, and many, many washes, this glitter has not dissipated one iota. The sparkle gives it another dimension and makes it a little bit more special than other versions of the Snow White dress I've seen.
      A rather lovely thing to comment on is that this is not only just a play dress; it comes as a three piece set. A rather fetching, red velvet cape attaches to the dress at the shoulders, with circular discs of Velcro. Despite repeated fastenings and removals the adhesion of the Velcro has not waned, as it can do with an inferior quality fastening. A red satin covered headband featuring the classic huge red bow completes the look. My daughter wears this on occasion, when she pretends to be another Disney favourite - Minnie Mouse.
      Although the bodice area is fitted, it's done rather generously to fit a bigger child. I loved this as though my daughter is still only nine, she regularly wears age thirteen clothes. The waist area is elasticated, but this has been done so that the elastic corresponds to the pleats in the skirt. A fuller figure would mean there is less gathering in the skirt because it's had to 'give' a little. A slighter child would have lots of pleats and gathering and therefore the skirt would be more voluminous - perfect for swishing about in. The skirt is lined with a nylon lining, to which many, many layers of net are stitched to add to the fullness of the skirt, without having to resort to the hoops that bend and twist with time and use, and also keeping the cost down. I personally like the net better, it's far less hassle as you don't have to keep unravelling it when it twists, also the net lies flat and makes it easier to store between play sessions.
      The dress is fastened at the back with three square sections of Velcro too, and as mentioned previously, this too is perfectly grippable (is that a word?) even after all this time, and countless wearing's and washings. The material is 100% polyester, rather than cotton that you would probably get from the Disney Store, but at a significantly higher price. A typical Disney Store Dress of this quality would cost between £30 and £50, yet this only cost £20 from Asda at the time. The polyester material does mean though that it's easy to care for. I throw it in the washing machine at 30 degrees, with detergent and conditioner. There are no washing instructions on the clothes labels inside, they must have been on the initial packaging, and are long gone. I can't comment as to whether this should or should not be tumble dried, but I personally put everything in the drier, and this has suffered no ill consequences.
      The length of this has been great. Obviously, you need to go with what clothes size your child usually wears as a guide. My daughter owns the age 9 - 10, and as she's grown, the dress has obviously grew shorter. It is still perfectly wearable; even now it is the three quarter length that some other dresses are made like, in the first instance. This dress would probably even last another twelve to eighteen months without being too small, due to the generous cut, and elasticated waist. Sadly though, my daughter's childhood is fading fast and her pretending to be a princess days are nearly over. :(
      All in all - I would give a five star review to every Snow White dress from the Disney brand, simply for their play and fun value. Although ours was from Asda, it hasn't made the slightest difference to my daughter, so neither should it to you. This dress-up set has been well worn and well loved, and still looks almost brand new today. Kids just want to dress up, and use their imaginations, and what a better way to do it, than with a beautiful dress to assist you? My top tip - buy a full length dress, so that it will last a very long time, your little princess will thank you. :)
        Great
        A Disney Princess dressing up costume has been on my daughters mind for a long time. I had been trying to delay buying her one as I thought it would be very expensive as I once saw this dress for £25 in a high street store.
        My daughters obsession with Disney Princesses was increasing day by day, she had seen the DVD many times and everytime even if out shopping in Tescos she would forcefully insist in a new Disney Princess item. Occasionally if she had been a good girl that day I would allow her a reasonably priced item.
        Over the years she had collected many Disney Princess themed items including two water bottles, two backpacks, a purse, a folder, a handbag, shoes, trainers, pencils, pencil case, various books, dvds, bead set, and probably other items I can't remember at the moment. Speaking to other parents this seems to be a normal phase for most young girls.
        This year in June we went to Disney Land in Paris and again her obsession of course became very strong. The dresses were being sold there too and was very pricey and it was very difficult not to buy it as it did end in tears, she was not happy with the Mini Mouse Teddy, balloon, and other items we had already bought her. It was hard but I still did not buy her the dress, however I did promise her once we got back to England I would buy her a dress.
        Recently we went shopping in a large Tesco store and I stumbled across the Disney Princess dresses. I was plesantly surprised that they were very reasonably priced compared to other places I had seen the same dress, it was only £12. They had many different dresses, Snow White's dress, Sleeping Beauty, Fairy, Cinderella etc. All the dresses had an accessory attached to it, some were hair accessories to tiaras.
        Bringing this item home I realised that it was made with a good quality material and did look very pretty on. It does not look cheap or tacky as it has also been stitched very well. My daughter looked very pretty and it was hard to change her into her pajamas in the evening. It gave her a huge amount of enjoyment and happiness to wear the dress and I remember she wore the dress everyday she could at home for the first two weeks. She has been good and has kept to her promise of not eating ot playing outside in the dress so I have not needed to wash it yet. However when I do wash it I will give it a gentle hand wash.
        This dress is very pretty and elegant and I am pleased I finally gave in and bought her it, if your daughter is anything like mine she will spend hours dressing up and pretending to be a princess.
        I don't know a child that doesn't like dressing up. My daughter absolutely loves it. She has a dressing up chest which is full to the brim of various dressing up clothes. I must admit, a good few have been purchased from supermarkets just after Halloween when they have been really cheap but she does have the standard nurse outfits and a couple of the more expensive ones like the Disney Princess ones which includes this Snow White one.
        My daughter's Snow White costume is an official Disney one but it differs slightlu from the picture. Her one has a little oval plastic piece near the neck with a picture of Snow White on it and it doesn't have that cape. I think there are a good few variations of this dressing up costume depending on where it is purchased. I have seen several different ones though they are all official Disney products.
        The dress is a complete replica of Snow White's dress. It has a beautiful long yellow fabric for the skirt which feels like satin and is very smooth and nice to touch. The bodice part is royal blue and of a velour fabric with a yellow seem going down the middle and it has the iconic blue and red puffy sleeves with a gold trim. The dress was completed with a white collar. It also came with a red hairband which had a little bow on it. The dress really is a complete replica of the Snow White dress.
        The dress is made beautifully and of a high standard though I wouldn't expect any less from an official Disney product. It is easy to get your child in and out of it as the back easily does up with velcro tabs.
        When we purchased this dress for my daughter she was around 2 and a half so we purchased the dress in a size 3-4 so she would get plenty of wear out of it. My daughter however went through a massive growth spurt and the dress ended up being too small for her by the time she reached 4 this year. She can still get it on and it stretches enough but the velcro tabs just won't hold together!
        It was purchased in Woolworths during their closing down sale so we ended up getting it for £7.50 which was half price so was quite the bargain. I can honestly say I would have been happy to have paid full price for it for her though. Definately recommended for your children to dress up as princesses. My daughter had lots of fun with it and enjoyed being a princess each day (some days she wanted to sleep in it!).
        5 stars!
        MY LITTLE PRINCESS LOVED THIS COSTUME.
        When my daughter was a small child, she would rush home from nursery, go up to her room and come down dressed in her choice of costume for that day. She never ever wore normal clothes around the house. Therefore every Christmas, birthday and easter, all my family would buy her more fancy dress costumes to add to her already extensive collection.
        One of her very favourite outfits was her snow white costume. I had taken her to the Disney shop specifically to buy this costume as she had been keen to own one like this for a while. Of course she had all the accesories such as the matching bag and shoes, this cost me around £40. Which I do think is rather expensive.
        The quality of the snow white dress from the disney store is of a very high quality. It is very realistic and has great likeness to the dress in the disney film. It comes with a matching red hairband. This hairband was also well made and fitted my lirrle girl perfectly without slipping off her head.
        I found the workmanship of the dress to be quite impressive. The stiching and detail was of a high standard and looked durable and unlikely to fall apart at the seams. I loved the vibrancy of the colours in this dress. Also I was pleased with the different textiles that had been used such as suede effect and silk effect materials. I felt it gave the dress a real high quallity look and feel.
        I believe this dress contributed greatly to my daughters imaginary and role play skills. It also improved her intrest in the actual snow white story which in turn encouraged her listening and reading skills.
        I found that by wearing this dress, it gave my daughter a degree of confidence. She wouldn't sing in front of people, however when wearing this dress she would love to perform the 'snow white show' for friends and family. Bringing pleasure to her and her audience!
        I wasn't very happy with the way this costume washed. After following instructions I was dismayed to discover that the vibrant colours had become quite dull and lifeless. Also the silk effect skirt took on a rather bobbly appearance, which in turn made it look cheap. This made no difference to the pleasure my daughter had from this dress and she continued to play in this outfit with great enthusiasm. But considering I had paid so much for this dress, I was disappointed and let down by it's inability to go through the wash.
        My daughter was and still is tiny. What I found to be befneficial with this costume, is that it has alot of elasticity in the dress. Especially around the waist and sleeve areas. This was very good as my daughter found that she could fit into this dress for a good few years. Also the velcro fastening on the back of the dress, made it simple for my daughter to pull the costume on and off herself. Promoting her independence.
        I have now noted whilst on my travels, that many of the supermarkets are now offering snow white and other disney costumes. These are available for a much cheaper price. So for those who are looking for a snow white costume now, I would consider shopping around.
        The only concern I have with today's trend of buying fancy dress costumes. Is that it takes away the fun and artistic creativity in creating costumes from household materials. When I was young. (which wasn't that long ago) me and my mum would spend hours together crafting some costume or other. At halloween, the black bags and cereal boxes would be utilized along with the silver foil that we be cut into star and moon shapes. But in today's society a trip to the shops is the only acceptable solution to a child's costume requirements. Thus destroying any chance of individualiity and artistic licence.
        This Disney snow white costume, is very pretty and well made. But I was very disappointed with the inability to wash well. In reflection, I do think that this dress was worth the money as my daughter used this dress a heck of alot and had hours of pleasure wearing this costume.
        Now she is ten and would shudder in shame at the thought of wearing a disney fancy dress outfit. I guess this makes me want to say, enjoy your little girls being fairies and princesses because all too soon they will be growing up and this gorgeous, magical time will be gone. x
          Like many little girls, mine loves dressing up, especially as her favourite cartoon characters. She adores Disney films, so we have quite a collection of princess dresses for her to play in, with one of her favourites being Snow White .
          My daughters outfit is slightly different than the one pictured above - as with any character costume there are always different deisgns and variations . My daughters outfit has a shimmering golden yellow skirt, with a black velour effect bodice, which has a line of gold ribbon down the front from neck to waist. At the neck is a smart red bow, complete with a small image of Snow White on a badge . The sleeved are wonderfully puffed in a pale blue, with gold trim at the ends and red slashes. The outfit also has a white collar, and a lovely red headband complete with bow .
          She has this in the medium size, which is for 5-6 years . However, the outfit has plenty of stretch, and although my daughter is nearly seven, I could see her getting a couple more years out of this . The material is quite nice on this dress- unlike many other costumes there are no scratchy bits that make it uncomfortable to wear.The product label does say this should be sponge cleaned only, but in all honesty I've shoved this in the washing machine on a low heat with no damage to the garment.
          My daughter loves wearing this, and I love seeing her in it - she looks adorable! I paid 16.99 for this on Amazon, and considering the amount of wear she and her friends have had (and will continue to get) out of this, I'm quite pleased with my purchase.
          An excellent dress up outfit for any little princess, 5 stars .
            Little princesses will love this dress up outfit
            My daughter is a huge fan of the Disney Snow White film, so we got her the Snow White dress up outfit for her Birthday.
            There are so many places you can buy the outfit from, but we got ours from Tesco.
            Although my daughter is only 4, we bought her the age 5-6 costume, so it would last longer. It measures approx 33 inches long from shoulder seam to the hem and measures about 10 inches across the waist (so would fit up to waist size of about 20 inches).
            The dress is made of polyester and has sequin and feather trim.
            It fastens up the back with 3 velcro tabs.
            The design of the dress is quite true to the Disney film - if a little more glamorous.
            It has a big white collar around the neckline and light blue short puff sleeves with big red teardrop shapes stiched on.
            The bodice of the dress is made of a dark blue thin velvet type of material, with a satin panel in the middle whin has a pattern of gold roses embossed on it.
            At the top of the bodice is a heart shaped badge with Snow White's picture on it. The badge is surrounded by red feathers.
            Directly beneath the badge at the bottom of the bodice is a red satin-effect bow.
            The skirt part of the dress is satin effect, primarily pale yellow, with a dark blue scalloped overlay at the top. It has a short, stiff little underskirt inside, to make the dress stick out a little bit.
            The dress also comes with a red cape, again made of polyester. The cape attaches to the dress at the shoulders, with little velcro tabs.
            My daughter has worn this dress virtually every day for 4 months now, so it got very grubby. Although the washing instructions are to sponge clean only, I had no choice but to attempt to hand wash the dress. I was careful to avoid the trim and the feathers and it survived unscathed and looking almost new again.
            This dress has been well worth the £20 we paid for it. We've got lots of dress up costumes, but this is by far my daughter's favourite. The design is very pretty and eye catching.
            The Disney Store has versions of this dress, that are presumably better quality, but have a price tag to match. Personaly though I'm more than happy with the Tesco version.
              Advantages
              Disadvantages
              Lots of varietys to suit every price range.
              There are loads of different variations on the snow white dressing up
              outfit that you can buy - and all range in price. It really depends on the
              style that you prefer. You can pick up these in your local card shops -
              birthdays have a big range in at the minute that start at about £12.99 -
              department stores or your local Disney shop... but they are slightly more
              expensive and generally over £20.
              For the distinct difference in price there is a distinct difference in quality. The more expensive ones usually come with a lot more detail, perhaps some jewels or gems attached to them, and are usually a better quality of material - but they are beautiful. The cheaper ones are a lot more basic, with no frills or fuss, and the material usually isn't as good - but they are still lovely.
              Which one you buy all depends on what your child is like too. If you know
              your child will be gentle with it then go for the more expensive one, but
              if your not sure if it will get wrecked within weeks then I wouldn't spend
              the extra money for just a few frills and bows.
              My main gripe with whichever costume you use is that they all stipulate
              that they are sponge clean only. When your buying an age 3 dress up costume it needs to be able to withstand a little bit more than a sponge clean! I do put mine on a hand wash - but that's not much good for removing chocolate stains from a yellow skirt. Consequently, they either get stained or you end up taking it off your child every time they eat!
              They are gorgeous dresses though and your little girl will love being snow
              white for the day!!!
