~*~*~ Toy Story Woody Costume ~*~*~
~ What is it? ~
This is a fancy dress costume where the wearer can dress up as Woody the cowboy from the Toy Story films. It comprises of four seperate pieces, and looks really cute on!
~ Why did I buy it? ~
My mum actually bought this for my son's fourth birthday as he is mad about Toy Story. He adores Woody and wanted to dress up like him so as his birthday was aproaching and my mum started asking him what he would like he said he wanted Woody toys and as he already had the talking Woody she was a bit stumped as she didn't want to just get him any old thing, but after a trip to the Disney Store she came back with this costume. I didn't see her before my sons birthday so the costume was as much a surprise to me as it was to him, but it was a very lovely surprise.
~ The costume ~
The costume comprises of four different pieces -
The hat, the neckerchief, the shirt/waistcoat combo and the denim look stretch trousers with add boots.
The hat is made from a foam like material and is tan in colour, it has a brown lace detail running around the brim. It's quite cute looking and does resemble a real stetson, the shirt has a front fastening that does up with the help of little velcro tabs it's bright yellow with a red check running through it, the waistcoat is attached to the shirt and this is in a cow print with a soft fur like material. The neckerchief is red and white, the trousers have an elasticated waist and are a denim look stretch material, at the bottom of the trousers is what looks like cowboy boots, these fit over the childs normal shoes making it quite a practical costume.
~ What my son thought of it ~
As you can imagine my son was thrilled with this costume, in fact he refused to take it off for a while, he even wanted to wear it to bed as he said he could dream better in it!
He really loves Woody and the fact he now had the costume to dress like his hero pleased him no end. He obviously found it very comfortable as he was always in it, I would manage to get him into his clothes for school but as soon as he got in afterwards he would run straight in stripping off his clothes ready to put this back on!
I washed it numerous times on a 30° cycle and either line dryed it or popped it on the radiator, I didn't want to risk tumble drying it and it always came up like new.
He wore it when the school had a fancy dress day and I wasn't surprised to see that he wasn't the only Woody there, and I don't mean to be biased but his costume did look the nicest, the others looked quite cheap looking compared to his.
His favourite part was the hat and this soon got a little bit dented and marked but it still functioned very well, it was a teeny bit too big for him but nothing major.
~ What I thought of it ~
I was as pleased as my son when he opened this, it looked really cute and it is very well made. It really does resemble what Woody wears so I have nothing bad to say about this at all.
My son has it in 5-6yrs as my mum said the 3-4yrs looked a bit small and she was worried that it wouldn't fit him for long. This worked fine for me as it would mean he would be able to get much more use out of it in the long term, at the time I simply had to roll the waistband on the trousers as they were a little long, and the sleeves had to have one fold but it still looked fine.
~ Overall Opinion ~
My son is five and a half now so he has had a year and a halfs use out of this and I have to say it is still in amazing condition, the hat is the only thing that looks particularly worn as it has a few dents and scrapes but it is still wearable.
I think this was money well spent for my mum as my son still likes it now and will often sit watching Toy Story with his hat on!
It's a cute suit that looks great.
~ Price ~
This isn't a cheap costume, the price is £30 but I have seen these on ebay going quite cheaply.
The sizes start 2-3yrs and go through to 9-10yrs.
Thanks for reading :o) x
My mother in law has recently bought the Disney Woody fancy dress costume for my son for his 4th birthday. The one she purchased is a one piece suit withe seperate neckchief and felt hat.
My little boy opened this gift and was absolutely delighted with the costume. He wore it nearly all day the first day he got it, and has regularly used it since so i think we can safely say it was a hit.
So, what do you get?
The kit is a one piece suit. The trousers are attached to the top, and the suit needs to be put on by putting your legs into the trousers, lifting the shirt up to your waist, then putting that on. The waistcoat is stitched onto the shirt, and the shirt fastens with 3 pieces of velcro up the chest. The outfit is completed with a felt cowboy hat, a shiny sherrif badge, and a red necktie which fastens with velcro.
How have we found it?
Both my 4 year old and 2 year old have been very impressed with this outfit as it is so realistic compared to the outfit worn by Woody in the Toy Story film. They don't like the red necktie as they find it very tight around their neck so we don't use that bit. The sherriff badge is also a bit hit and miss. It only hooks onto a loop on the chest of the costume, and every time they bend down to play, it falls off. It is also a little disappointing that there is a gun holster but no gun provided. Luckily we had a toy gun already that would fit in the holster, and my boys have been satisfied with that.
One thing i do find really strange is the sizing of the costume. The suit we have is for a 3-5 year old. Both of my kids are really large. I would say the 2 year old is more like a 3 year old, and the 4 year old wears 5-6 age tops. It doesn't fit either of them that well being an all in one suit. While it fits the 4 year old well in leg and arm length, and he can get into the suit himself relatively easily, it is really quite snug over his T shirt and then is quite difficult to remove. The 2 year old has to have the arms and legs turned up, and with him i also found that it was a really snug fit around his chest and hard to get off. My kids are just normal boy size, not overweight in any way, so i do find this strange. I think it must be the lack of give in the costume. I would find it much better as an elasticated pair of trousers and a separate top.
The hat is a good fit and they really do like this aspect of it. The MIL unfortunately folded the edges in to post it, and we have not been able to get the folds out of it.
Overall, it is a fantastic costume in terms of how realistic it is, and the role play the boys can do with it, but for the price i feel it could have been designed better (and been a separate costume) and also come with a toy gun. Your kids will have fun with it, but i strongly recommend trying to get the sizing right or you will spend your whole time helping your child wriggle in and out of it.
My son had his sixth birthday two weeks ago, he is Toy Story mad and the one thing he really wanted for his birthday was a Woody outfit.
I looked in several places and some were a lot cheaper than others but I decided to buy the Woody costume from the Disney store for it's quality and attention to detail.
The outfit is a three part set comprising of the following
Woody cowboy hat - This is made of a soft yet rigid foam, it is comfy to wear and a major positive is that it stays on when my little boy walks or even dances and runs, so many fancy dress hats look good but just won't stay on. It is a gorgeous camel colour and has little 'fake' stitches all the way around, just like Woodys.
Shirt / waistcoat combo - This is just so cute, it is a one piece shirt with the waistcoat attached.
The shirt is a yellow checked cotton with two white pretend buttons. You fasten it by four large Velcro pads so it is very easy to open and close. It is long sleeved and has a rigid collar.
The waistcoat is a fake fur cow print. It has a shiny Sheriffs badge that fixes to it by Velcro. This has come off a few times and I think will eventually be lost as it does not fix securely enough. You also get a little red neckerchief.
Trousers - These are a cotton material but look like denim perhaps they could be called Jrousers similar to Jeggings. Attached to the bottom of the trousers are little brown cowboy boots, I love these as they actually fit over the shoes to make it look like you are really wearing boots.
There is a brown belt and holster attached to the top of the trousers, these can't be removed. The trousers have an elasticated waist for added comfort and ease when putting on.
What my son thinks - well when he opened it his little eyes lit up, we bought him the Woody doll too and the costume is an exact match. We were away at a Haven park in Wales for his birthday and he wanted to wear it most nights. He loved being like Woody and was putting on the voice and getting his big sister to be Buzz Lightyear. Over the last few days some of his friends have come around and it is the first thing he shows them.
The outfit is from The Disney store. You can buy it in store or on their website www.disneystore.co.uk. The one thing I will point out which is a bit annoying is the sizing as it goes 3-5, then 6-8 and so on up to age 12. My boy is six but is pretty dinky so the trousers on the 6-8 were miles too long but the top on the 3-5 was a bit tight. I explained my problem to the lady in Disney Store and just by chance someone who obviously had a child the opposite of mine had earlier swapped the top over, so there was a 6-8 top with a 3-5 trousers. I was really lucky as I don't think I would have bought it otherwise.
It costs £20 which I feel for the quality and authentic feel to it is good value. Although the novelty will probably wear off soon, I am sure it will fetch a good price on Ebay when Woody is no longer top cowboy.
We were recently invited to a fancy dress party, and my little boy, who is 5, wanted to go as Woody the cowboy from Toy story. Luckily, as the film was due out at the time, there was a plethora of Toy story merchandise in every high street store, and I managed to get a costume in his size from Marks and Spencers.
The costume is super high quality as you would expect from Disney. It has all the accessories that any self respecting cowboy would need, such as sheriff badge, hat and necktie.
The main part of the costime comes in two part. The top is made from a light check fabric, with a cowskin effect waistcoat sewn onto it, which goes all the way around the back of the shirt. The fastening at the back is velcro, so it is easy to get on and off. The trousers are deep blue and have an elasticated waistband. The really cute thing about the trousers is that they have a pair of felt "boots" sewn onto the bottom, which look really effective, and are more practical than trying to find a real pair of cowboy boots to go with the outfit. The red necktie fastens simply with velcro at the back, which is safer than tying it yourself, or the child trying to tie it.
The hat is super cute! It is made from a soft brown foamy material, with stitching detail around the edge. My only criticism of the hat is that it is slightly small, and may not fit all kids. It has no chin strap, so has a tendency to fall off quite easily. For some weird reason, my son keeps biting on the foam, so there are a few bite marks on the hat now!
The costume is nice and light to wear, so any child wearing it will not get overheated if wearing it at a party. My son looks really adorable in his outfit, because he wears glasses, so I think he looks like the milky bar kid! The shirt is suitable for everyday wear, although the trousers would be no good to wear outdoors because the felt boots would drag along the ground.
The whole set is a 7 part set, and I think it is really good value for £15. It won't wear and tear easily, and the trousers are a good enough length to last the child at least a year of growth. With ther current craze for all things Toy Story, this is the perfect accessory for young fans. With all the recent stuff on Dooyoo about team Edward and team Jacom of Twilight, I think we should start a team Woody/Buzz contest. I'm with Woody every time! Yeehhaaaa!
