Advantages: There's no mess and wil help your child with there imaginitive play.

Disadvantages: The candle flames don't stay up

You can buy this cut and play cake from The Early Learning Centre for £7.00. It states that it is suitable for children aged 3-8 years. The also sell other cut and play items in there range such as: cut and play ice cream, cut and play pizza and cut and play sandwich these are all priced at the same price.

My daughters got brought this cake for Christmas by there Grandparents and they love playing with it. The cake is made out of very light plastic and splits into four pieces/slices. Each piece has Velcro on it so they can join onto the others so it looks like a full cake. On each slice of cake there is a circle small circle gap where you can place the candles that come with it. The candles are made out of plastic and there are two green and two blue ones, and on top of the candle is a little orange pretend flame that you are meant to be able to blow out. You also get a free little cake topper that says happy birthday on that goes on the top of the cake which is very bright. Then around the edge of the top of the cake there are small little colourful swirls just like icing on a real cake. Then lastly you get a small plastic knife with it that your child can use to pretend to cut the cake up.

I think that this cake is great as my daughters love birthdays. So when they are playing together they pretend its each others birthdays, and blow the candles out and cut the cake up. They also play with there picnic set when they have the cake out so it is like there having a party and least it's not messy. The cake is good as it helps your child with there role play skills and imaginative play.

There is only one thing about the cake that I was a bit disappointed with which was the candles. They do look really good but the pretend flame doesn't stay up on top of the candle and sometimes get stuck. So my daughters are forever asking us to try and make them stay up. But other then that I am quite happy with the cake as it is fairly cheap and it keeps my daughters amused.

Summary: Overall it keeps my daughters entertained.
