When asked this year what my children wanted to dress up as on Halloween, I was rather surprised that my youngest daughter answered with Harry Potter. Being only 4, she has only seen snippets of the tamer, earlier films, and even then didn't seem all that interested. I'm not sure if it may be due to some kind of influence at school, but I nevertheless dutifully started my search for Harry Potter costumes that would be suitable for her age. I soon found a cape, but it didn't come with the glasses or the wand, and she wouldn't have been much of a Harry Potter without them. After a quick search online (what did we do before the internet?!), I found a set on Amazon for around £7 with free postage, and quickly ordered them before they became out of stock. I wasn't expecting anything of a particularly high standard for £7 for the wand and the glasses, but when they arrived I was actually nicely surprised. Although the wand is plastic (I think my daughter was expecting Oak lol), it has been moulded well, and isn't just a long plastic stick, but has grooves and bumps shaped all the way along. The authentic look is replicated in the length, which appears quite accurate and it sits nicely in little hands. I quite like that it is plastic as it can't be damaged really and I expect it will last much longer than my daughter will want to play with it. The glasses are a good replica and make my daughter look beyond cute. I think any little ones putting these on are going to get lots of 'awwws'. She particularly likes them, as she has just had her eyes tested and needs glasses but is waiting for hers to be made, so she is pretty much living in these at the moment (I draw the line at allowing her to wear them outside without the full Harry Potter costume on! I may get some funny looks otherwise!). They are plastic, but seem sturdy and well made. For the amount of use she has got out of them over the last few weeks, I would have expected them to break by now if they were poorly made. Size wise, they aren't snug and they aren't loose, just a nice fit that will fit a fairly wide age range. If you buy these (which I recommend for any little Harry Potter fan), don't forget the scar on the forehead for that super authentic Harry Potter look!
