I brought my sister this Dinosaur Fancy Dress Costume before Xmas to wear to a party at playgroup, it cost £8.99 and I remember being disappointed to start with because the material felt so thin but the colours were so wicked that I decided to put the suit on her for the party instead of sending it back like I was going to.
Since Xmas my sister has worn it LOADS of times and it hasn't ripped or anything so the material obviously isn't as thin or cheap as it looks, the knees are looking a bit thin and worn now but it doesn't matter all that much because she's growing out of it now anyway.
The size is supposed to be suitable for ages 2 - 4 but NO WAY. My sister only was 3 at the weekend and the suit already looks a bit stretched and uncomfortable on her so I reckon it would have to be a small 4 year old to get into it!
The suit is in 2 pieces, the body part and the head dress. It's dead easy to put on because there is a zip at the back of the actual suit and then the head dress just kind of pushes down over my sisters head. The yellow spikes of the head dress cover the zip of the suit when it's in the right place and that makes the costume look like it's all in one piece instead of two.
The costume is made out of like a felt material, it's a lot more durable than it looks and I'm mega surprised that it's lasted for over 6 months...... especially because my sister wears her costume at least 2 times a week just for playing with round the house. One of her fave things about it is that is looks like the dinosaur from Peppa Pig and she'll run round going Dinosaur...... ROAR just like George Pig!
It's a pretty good fit when the costume is still the right size for her, the feet look comfortable and there is a bit of elastic round the ankles so this keeps the leg tighter than it would be if the feet was just left loose. The wrists are elastic but after she had worn the suit about 3 times it started losing it's grip a bit and that's a shame because the arms have lost a bit of shape now.
The head dress is good and it fits good on my sister, it's easy to slip on and off and the face hole is big enough so that she's not going to be getting all stuffy inside the costume because the air can still get to her face.
We've washed this costume at least 6 times since I brought it and there's no problems putting it into the washing machine, we've never risked putting it in the drier though because that sort of material is never good in the drier. When I wash it in the machine I always put it on a quick wash with a slow spin to make sure the material doesn't come all out of shape.
My sister has worn this costume to 3 parties and even wears it round the house because she loves dressing up. It's weird because I thought this sort of costume would look better on a boy but when my sister's got it on it still looks dead girly even though dinosaurs aren't all that girly in the first place.
