I brought these for my sister to wear to a Xmas party at playgroup, she was wearing a gorgeous pink dress and it wasn't a fancy dress party so I thought these might be nice to brighten the dress up a bit without looking like she was trying too hard.... she was only 2 1/2 at the time so I don't think that would have mattered much anyway!
They are made out of a pink gauze material with a gorgeous glittery swirly design. There are 2 arm loops without fasteners so you need to make sure these wings are going to be the right size because once they're too small it'll be a nightmare trying to get the childs arms through the loops without breaking the wings. They are the small version and they fit my sister perfect now she's 3, I think she'll probably get another year out of them and that's pretty good value considering the wings only cost £3.99 in the first place.
When I ordered the wings I thought they would be bigger for the price actually and I was shocked when they was delivered because they came folded up in a normal sized envelope that even went through the letterbox it was so small! Once you have unfolded the wings the size is perfect though and even when you're looking at them they look kind of small, but when you put the wings on a toddler the size balances out and then they look fine.
They are very pretty wings and are perfect for my mega girly little sister. She's got a frilly pink party dress that can easily be transformed into a fairy costume with these wings and a wand that I brought from the pound shop, buying these wings works out loads cheaper than having to go to the Disney Store and buy a full costume. Some of the glitter has come off now but you can still see the swirls, I was expecting that because when you run your finger over the swirls you can tell there is a mega thick layer of glitter on them to start with and over time most of it has dropped off but there is still the bottom layer and it's still lovely and shimmery.
The wings have lasted good, six months so far and apart from the glitter they are still going strong. The wire that makes the shape of the wings has still got the same shape as when my sister first wore them, and believe me she has worn them LOADS since Xmas and still loves them just as much as when she first saw them. If the wires DO get bent out of shape it's very easy to push the wire back so that they are wing shaped again, the wires are strong though and I don't think they'll snap or anything.... well they haven't yet and the way my sister bashes them about you'd be surprised about that!
The only problem we've had with these wings is that the ribbon covering the part that holds the 2 wings together started coming unravelled a few weeks ago. It was an easy fix because the ribbon just winds back up and then I used a spot of superglue to stick the end down again, it's held fine and hasn't come unstuck again but I recommend keeping an eye out for that because I think if the ribbon unwound too much then it might be hard to put it right again neatly.
I deffo recommend these pink wings, you can get the same style in white and my mate reckons she's seen the exact same wings in pale blue. They're only small at 30cm x 28cm so are more for dressing up a party dress than for actually dressing up as a FAIRY, you can get bigger and more fancy wings for that for about the same price if you shop around.... yesterday I brought my sister a wicked pair of wings from the market, they were only £2.69 and have got adjustable arm loops and bigger actual wings so I think they will definitely last her for a long time. Mind you I can't complain at how good these have lasted and also how brill they still look.
