Advantages: Looks wicked; Keeps most of my sisters clothes clean when she's painting
Disadvantages: Could do with sleeves I reckon
My sister has always loved painting and now she's nearly 3 we like to leave her paints out so that she can have a go whenever she wants to without us having to keep getting them out and setting the table up. For Xmas she got an easel that has got a drawer built into the bottom for all her painting things so we keep this in the corner of the kitchen now where it's easy to clean up after her. I got this painting apron for her about a year ago but forgot it was in the cupboard so she's only just started using it, I remember paying about £5.00 off Amazon for it and didn't buy it because of it having the picture of Lola on the front because my sister isn't into Charlie and Lola but it loks wicked anyway so you haven't GOT to know the character.
It's made of plastic and is a sleeveless tabard, to put it on you just slide it over the childs head and pull their arms through the arm holes. The front and back of the tabard aren't tied together because there are short elastic strips holding them together, that means you can't adjust it once your child gets too big but there's LOADS of room in it for my sister and I reckon she'll get another year out of it at least.
The last painting apron my sister had had sleeves in it and that was a bit better because she's always dipping her arms into the paint and that one protected her clothes better, watching her in this though she's definately got more freedom without the bulky plastic sleeves and she can move her arms easier. I think the main thing is that this tabard will stop the mess getting EVERYWHERE, you can't stop a bit of paint on a sleeve but that is easier and quicker to clean up than if she'd got paint all over her front too! The tabard is nice and loose so even if my sister gets wet paint on the front it's easy to pull off her without smearing paint on her face and clothes.
Because of it being plastic it's dead easy to keep clean. Stuff just falls off it in water and just giving it a quick rub in a bowl of hot water gets it looking good as new, then you can either dry it with kitchen roll or put it outside to dry in the sun. I put it on her the other night when she wanted to feed herself spaghetti bolognese, Dolmio stains like crazy and she'd got a new pair of pj's on that I didn't want to get ruined and this tabard was brill. It stopped even a spot of bolognese sauce going on her clothes and you could tell from the state of the front of the tabard how much she would have ended up getting on herself if she hadn't been wearing it! Even that wiped off easy though so I reckon this tabard will stay looking good for ages yet.
The picture on the front shows Lola on a space hopper, it's a fun picture and I'm sure kids who love Charlie and Lola will want one of these tabards. My sister would like it whatever picture was on the front but I don't think she's even seen a space hopper and doesn't like Lola so she's kind of stuck with this one..... if I'd known it was going to be so popular I'd have tried to get her an apron that had a charater on she liked like Peppa Pig or Lazy Town but when I brought this I didn't think it would get as much use as it does.
Recommended!!!
