Super Cap Gun
Advantages: Realistic, well built,
Disadvantages: no caps included
Fancy dress parties are, for better or worse, a fairly frequent event on my social calendar, although they are not as fun and inventive as they used to be - this is due to the fact that you no longer piece together some random costume, you just go to a shop and hand over £40 and hey presto, you have yourself a very low quality costume.
Regardless of whether you take this approach or not, you will need accessories. And a gun has to be one of the top runners - cop, bank robber, cowboy or an action hero, a handy revolver is a good way of asserting your authority!
This well constructed, realistic looking pistol was on sale in a local party shop, at the reasonable cost of £6.99, although this price did include a pack caps which do not come in the pack as standard, so be warned!
The pistol is black, but has a red tip at the end of the barrel to stop it looking too realistic. The pistol is a mixture of plastic and metal - you probably need to metal to set off the caps with reliability and to get a decent sound. The chamber rotates as each shot is fired which brings round the next cap, just as a real pistol would do. You can even cock the pistol - handy for if you find another gunslinger to have a duel with..!
The sound and smoke level will relate to the caps you use, but this piece of kit definitely hits with sufficient force to set them off.
Overall a very solid purchase that can be used with multiple outfits.
Summary: A good allround choice for fancy dress or kids
