Advantages: Look Good, Excellent Lenses
Disadvantages: Easily broken (if dropped)
The first pair of "expensive" sunglasses that I bought were Oakley Eye Jackets. I had had several pairs of cheap glasses <£10.00 but thought it time to get a decent pair. I bought a pair of Oakley Eye Jackets with blue frames and a multi couloured tinted lense. There were several good things about these glasses but one of the best is their excellent use for driving. Oakley Eye Jackets are wrap around glasses and completely enclose your eyes so that no unfiltered light gets through. I have found this to be very usefull on those summer drives. The lenses in Oakleys are quite simply some of the best that I have ever looked through. There is excellent clarity even in the brightest sunlight. As the lenses are polarised and what ever else Oakley do to them things do not appear too dark or dull but the brightness and intensity of the sun is reduced suitabily. The glasses have a plastic frame which I have found to be quite flexible (I have not yet managed to break the frames). The arms of the glasses can pop out of the socket but they are easily popped back in. The down fall of these glasses came one day when I dropped them (not the smartest thing to do) and naturally they landed on cencrete, lenses first. There was and still is a large chip / scratch right in the field of view on one of the lenses. Fortunately the glasses were covered under my home contents insurance and I claimed and then bought a new and different pair of Oakleys, but that is another review.

- 26/03/02 Oakleys are the kings of cool. If they're not covered by insurance, didja know you can send them off and get the lenses replaced? I think it's quite dear (about £40-50) but still cheaper than buying a new pair! |

- 26/03/02 Why are they called jackets if they are actually glasses? Err... |
