Asda George Tie Dye Maxi Skirt

When shopping for some holiday clothes, Asda is a great place to visit as they have wonderful options for great prices. I wanted something I could wear during the day and also at night so that I could cut down on what I need to pack for my holiday. Something that stood out to me was the selection of maxi skirts. I have many maxi dresses ... but never thought of buying a skirt. I decided on the George Tie Dye Maxi Skirt which cost £12.
Like a maxi dress, this skirt is very long. The actual length of the skirt is roughly 38 inches / 96.5 cm and as I am 5'5, it is slightly too long for me. However, this is the style of these kinds of skirts and it doesn't drag along the floor too much while wearing flat shoes. With a pair of heels or wedges, this skirt is just the right length for me but I think taller ladies will struggle with the length if they want to dress it up with heeled shoes.
Not only is the skirt long but it flows wonderfully and looks extremely feminine. I chose this particular maxi skirt due to the design, which is a blue tie dye effect. There is a range of different blues within the material of the skirt as well as white which breaks up the blue nicely. Each of the tie dye sections are different in width which is also nice because it doesn't look boring. The top tie dye layer of the skirt is made from a see through material but as this is fully lined, it doesn't matter at all. The lining is dark blue so it goes really nicely with the other colours on the skirt. The lining is made from cotton whereas the top layer is made from polyester.
Due to the lining being made from cotton, this skirt has a great, lightweight feel to it but it also doesn't cling to the legs at all. I like this fact a lot because I plan to take the skirt to Florida with me and I definitely do not want this sticking to my legs all day long. As well as being cool to wear, the skirt is also extremely comfortable. The long, flowy design makes this a perfect skirt for summer. It hides a multitude of sins as it does cover the whole leg area and sits quite high on the waist so to not create any unattractive lines.
This is by far one of my favourite items bought for this summer as it is so comfortable and easy to wear. I will definitely be getting my £12 worth out of this.

New Look Blue Floral Belted Bandeau Maxi Dress

I love summer (when we have it) and I love wearing maxi skirts and dresses as they look really summery and are also nice and cool to wear. I recently got rid of 2 maxi dresses I had due to them being slightly too big under the arms revealing my bra a fair bit. That left me with one strapless maxi dress in a beautiful bright blue colour. ... I was browsing in my local New Look store a few weeks ago for something specific that I saw on their website (not a maxi dress) and this particular maxi dress caught my eye due to the lovely colour of it.
The Dress

This dress is a blue bandeau dress which means that the dress has no straps which makes the dress perfect for summer as you won't get tan lines from straps. The dress is blue in colour and has a beautiful floral pattern all over the dress in different shades of blue. Although the colour of the dress is mainly a light blue colour there are hints of lighter and darker blues in amongst the floral pattern which covers the dress. The dress also comes with a woven tan waist belt to break the dress up slightly. I don't normally purchase flowery things, how-ever I loved the design of the dress and the colour of it so decided I would give it a chance. At first I wasn't really sure if this was too flowery for me, as I tend to live in plain coloured tops and dresses, so I thought I would make a change and actually purchase something that isn't plain. I have to be careful when buying maxi dresses as I find that some can look rather unflattering and make me look rather large in comparison to the size I actually am. I decided to try the dress on before purchasing it so I could see what it looked like. I loved the look of the dress in the fitting room but decided I would buy it to try on at home where I could get a proper look at me wearing it. If I didn't like the dress I could easily return it the following day. After posing in the mirror at home in the dress for a good 5-10mins I decided that I would keep the dress as it didn't make me look frumpy or big and it would lovely during the summer months (if we get them!).
The dress is ankle length so may not be suitable for shorter people. I am around 5 foot 5" and I find this dress the perfect length and doesn't drag on the floor which is good as it means the bottom of the dress won't get dirty. There is an elasticated band which sits further down from the bust line which gives the dress a nice, slightly gathered look in this area. Although I am normally a size 8 in tops I actually purchased a size 10 in this dress as I found the elastic on the size 8 dress slightly too tight. The top of the dress also has an elastic band around it so there is very little chance of the dress falling down (unless you have purchased a size too big!). The dress feels extremely smooth and slightly silky to the touch so I was expecting this to feel nice and light against my skin when wearing it. The belt that comes with the dress is a nice design and I find that the colour of the belt goes perfectly with the dress to break the pattern and colour of the dress up slightly. On the New Look website they suggest pairing the dress with some cork wedge sandals for an evening look. As this dress is made from 100% Viscose it means that the dress can be machine washed but must be left to dry, rather than putting it in the tumble drier.

Wearing the Dress

I have only managed to wear the dress once or twice due to the lack of sunshine we have been having. The fit of the dress is actually very nice and although it's loose it doesn't make me look frumpy. The two elasticated bands at the top of the dress help to hold to the dress up and in place. I don't find this too tight and it's actually really comfortable. The other band which sits just below the bust ensures that the top of the dress gives a good shape around the bust area. This is also where the belt loops are for the belt to go through. I always wear the belt that comes with the dress as I think it looks really nice. Although the belt is quite small and doesn't have many holes in order you to fasten the belt it's comfortable to wear with the dress and doesn't feel too tight. You could always take this belt off and add one of your own to it. I tend to wear sandals with the dress and I find that it looks nice and summery and the dress doesn't drag on the floor. When walking up and down stairs I do need to hold the dress up a little otherwise I would end up tripping over the bottom of the dress.
I have worn the dress on reasonable sunny days and I find that it's really cool to wear and I didn't get too hot in it despite the dress being almost floor length. The material to the dress is really nice and light and when sitting down I didn't find the dress sticking to the skin on my legs which can sometimes happen when sitting down for long periods, especially in the pub! The dress looks really summery on and it also makes me feel really summery when wearing it. The dress looks beautiful with a small cropped cardigan or even a light coloured denim jacket if the weather turns a little chilly. The dress isn't clingy which is good as I know a lot of people feel uncomfortable or self conscious when wearing clingy or tight clothes. Despite this being loose fitting it doesn't make me look big of bulky or bigger than I actually am, in fact I actually think the dress is really flattering. As I have only worn the dress twice for a few hours down the local pub on a weekend afternoon I haven't washed it as I didn't think there was any point. (I'm not one of these people who wear something for a few hours then washes it).
Overall Opinion

This dress looks better on than it does in the hanger in store. The colours to the dress are beautiful and I love that it has different shades of blue in the dress as well as some white to give the flowers some detailing. The dress is really comfortable and in fact it's probably one of the most comfortable maxi dresses I own when comparing it to my other one that I own which I also purchased from New Look last year. In terms of value I think the dress is very reasonable as it's well made and made from lovely printed material. You do also get the belt with the dress too which also makes it good value. I definitely think this dress is one of those dressed that would suit most people, despite their size or shape. The only down-side to the dress is that it may not be suitable for shorter people due to the long length of the dress; how-ever you could always get the dress taken up slightly if you really like the dress and want it. I would definitely recommend this dress to others as it's beautiful, summery and really comfortable. I am now hoping that I get more chances to wear it.

New Look Boyfriend Cardigan

I am a cardy and jeans kinda girl. Anything that is comfortable and not too clingy is right up my street. If you were to take a peek in my wardrobe you would probably find 50 plus cardigans in a wide range of colours. I usually wear cardigans rather than jumpers as they are easy to remove, without messing up your hair, you can have them ... open if you are too hot, whilst still keeping your arms warm and you can wear a nice top underneath which can still be seen when the cardigan is open. I have this particular cardigan in three different colours: black, navy blue and grey. I purchased mine around Christmas time from £12.99 from New Look.
I think the quality of this cardigan is good, I have worn mine too death and they are still in very good condition. I have found some cardigans to start getting bobbly after only a handful of washes but this one is still bobble free. Also the colour has not faded at all and I have probably washed this at least 30 times. It has kept it shape very well unlike other cardigans I have had that have either shrunk or stretched in the wash. Once this cardigan has been washed you will need to iron it unfortunately. Normally I just hang up my clothes or fold them, but this cardigan can look very creased if not ironed. There are two pockets at the front, I do not put anything too heavy in them as they don't seem to be very strong and are likely to stretch easily.
The material is 96% Viscose, 4% Elastane and is comfortable on the skin. The cardigan is quite thin and I would say perfect for Spring and Summer. When I wore mine in the winter I always made sure I was wearing a coat as if I only had the cardigan on alone then it would be too chilly. It is very plain with no pattern on it apart from a boarder/rim that runs around the neck and the front of the cardigan.
This cardigan hangs very nicely and sits just below your hips. It looks great paired with jeans and is long enough to wear with legging. I normally wear a plain vest top under my cardigan which looks nice. The reason I purchased this cardigan was so I could wear it to work but it is perfect for any casual look. I also use it a lot on a nights out and when I just need something to cover my arms. I hate carrying around a jacket and this squeezes into my hand bag perfectly once I have finished using it.
This is a great, stylish cardigan which doesn't break the bank. It fits really well and I love it so much I bought three of them. I love New look clothes especially their jeans and cardigans. I find their clothes to be reasonably priced and good quality. I would recommend this cardigan as it is one of my favourites and it comes in a wide range of sizes and colours. I think the only way they could improve this cardigan is if they made it a little thicker and the pockets stronger.
