LA Gear Closed Hem Sweatpants Ladies
by CosmicLove
I bought these sweatpants because I wanted some comfortable trousers with a nice relaxed fit for when I was just lazing around the house & doing house work etc. I bought them from Sports Direct and paid £6.50 for them which isn't very much but I don't think they're worth that price because I hardly ever wear them because of the fit. ...
The retail price is around £22 and I'm extremely glad I didn't pay the full price. I have the sweatpants in a very dark grey colour and they're also available in light grey. As I bought mine from the sports direct website I only really had a picture to go by when trying to figure out how they'd fit and they look a lot different in the picture to how they do in real life.
Firstly, the sizing is way off - I have them in a size twelve and they're much too big, I'd say that a size 16 or 18 would easily manage to fit into them. The legs are really baggy and shapeless, and the waistband is too elasticised so I need to constantly pull them back up when wearing them as they ride down very easily.
The waistband is also very bulky so it can make my stomach look a lot bigger than it actually is which makes me feel self conscious. The trousers do have cuffed ankles, but the ankle holes are huge! Because the trousers are so long, they drag along the floor and even when I roll them up they are still too big around my ankles (I am just under 5'4).
Now to mention something slightly positive - they're very soft and fleecy inside and they are warm and thick, so they'd make good trousers in the winter when walking the dog and I'd be able to tuck them into some wellies to stop them from dragging on the floor, so for this purpose they will be ideal but they'd still feel quite bulked out and they're also quite heavy with the material being so thick. The material is 35% cotton and 65% polyester.
The material washes well, but I've only washed mine a couple of times as I hardly ever wear them with them being so big and heavy. All in all I'm going to give these sweatpants two out of five stars. The full retail price is very expensive, they're too long for me, the sizing is way out of proportion, the waistband is too elasticised and they feel heavy. Read the complete review |

Topshop Moto Vintage Joni Jeans
by -becky-
I've always been pleased with jeans from Topshop, and I do believe that although they are quite expensive compared to other high street shops, you are paying for the quality.
I love high waisted things as there isn't the possibility of what I'd call 'the muffin top look' where you're belly hangs over. They can also make you ... appear slightly slimmer and hold in any lumps and bumps. When I saw that Topshop had launched the Joni jeans and how popular they were, I thought it was worth giving them a go.
The pair of Joni jeans I bought were called 'vintage'. I wouldn't call them vintage myself as I see something vintage as second hand, already used and unique - which these obviously weren't. The vintage jeans are the usual denim colour. I also had the choice of black or a lighter wash denim. Since buying them, the range has expanded and there's now a variety of pastel colours in the high waisted Joni jeans to choose from. They can be found at Topshop online or in store. I prefer to buy mine in store so I can try them on there and then, ordering online never seems to end well for me! As the sizes aren't you're usual 8s/10s/12s, and are instead in inches for the waist and length, I find Topshop jeans are much easier to find a pair that fit nicely.
I've had mine quite a while now and I love them! The jeans are so so soft, they don't even feel like jeans. They slip on easily unlike a lot of skinny jeans and are surprisingly easy to get off too. They aren't baggy on your legs or waist at all but they don't feel tight and as if you can't breathe in them. They're literally a perfect fit for me. After several washes the colour is just as bold as it was to start with and no threads on the seams have come loose. The classic zip and button up found on many jeans is also the fastening for the Joni's and the zip works easily and never gets jammed. I'm back tracking a bit here as I said my Leigh jeans were the best I'd bought, but I take that back after buying these. Joni jeans are just as comfortable as wearing leggings and look a bit less casual for if you go out during the day, and there's nothing to stop you dressing them up and teaming them with a lovely blazer (or anything you fancy) for more of a going out look. You can wear them with practically anything because they're so versatile. Jeans are a staple for anyone's wardrobe.
At £36 these may seem expensive to some, but I do think jeans are worth spending that little extra on for comfort. I can't complain at the price for how good quality they are, the fact that I can match them with most things in my wardrobe and look fine is a great bonus for me as getting ready in a morning suddenly becomes much less of an effort. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending these jeans to anyone. Read the complete review |

Asda George Stud Embellished Blouse
by linzeelou
As I have had to buy this year's summer wardrobe on a budget, the first place I headed to was Asda. I think George do some fantastic clothes and at great prices too and there is always a lot of choice. I ended up buying quite a bit but one item was the Asda George Stud Embellished Blouse. This one comes from the Moda range. ...
The blouse is made from sheer material (100% polyester), which makes it perfect for summer. Although the blouse is quite see-through, I wear a top underneath to stop my bra being on show. The material is very soft and it fits quite loosely. I really like how the top fits because it is not too tight anywhere. I don't like anything that fits skin tight so for me, this is a really flattering and comfortable blouse.
The colours of this top are quite different for me as I tend to stick to darker colours even in the hotter months. Made up of tan, peach and black, this blouse has both a striped and spotted design. While this sounds like it could be too busy looking, it isn't. The lines are bigger towards the bottom of the blouse while there are more spots towards the top. I think this kind of design puts the attention in the right places while making the body look longer and slimmer towards the bottom.
The blouse also has a studded button detail on the front which stops just below the bust line. Although I have generally worn this so far with the buttons being completely done up, I think it would be great to have them open once the weather gets warmer. This will make it possible to make the blouse even cooler when it does get hot. To match the studded buttons in the front, there are also 9 of the same on each shoulder which is a lovely detail.
I have washed this numerous times already on 30 degree washes and it comes out wonderfully every single time. It also does not need much ironing. If you hang to dry on a hanger, most of the creases come out on their own. However, if you use a clothes airer then it will need a quick going over with the iron but it only takes a matter of minutes as the material is so thin.
Costing only £12, this is a fantastic piece for summer and it has quickly become one of my favourite tops. It is comfortable and can be worn both dressed up or down, depending on what else you wear it with. Read the complete review |
