New Look Tube Skirt
by lyndsey1989
I was doing an order on the New Look website a few months ago when I came across this tube skirt. It was reduced from something like £8 to £3 which of course was an absolute bargain and not one to be turned down! The only colour available for that price was biscuit so that's the colour I ordered. I opted for a size 10 as although I am a ... little bigger than usual at the moment the skirt is quite stretchy.
When the skirt arrived I was pleased with my purchase. I love the colour and to be honest I'm glad it was the only colour available because usually I would opt for something else.
The skirt is quite soft but at the same time it does look smart and could be worn to work. I always pair mine with some opaque black tights and I like the look this gives.
A few people have commented that they like my skirt and I do think its quite versatile. I mainly prefer to dress mine down wearing it with my uggs or flat boots but it could be glammed up with heels for a night out but for that you'd probably want a different colour.
When wearing it it comes about halfway down my thigh and it doesn't ride up. The material provides you with the perfect fit as it clings to your body and I was really surprised by how comfortable the skirt was.
I have washed the skirt a few times now, usually on a 40 degree cycle and it has always washed fine, the colour hasn't faded, it hasn't shrunk or become baggy and there are no bobbles either!
I think this skirt is a brilliant wardrobe essential and I will definitely be buying a couple of other colours even at full price as they are comfortable and look good too. Recommended. Read the complete review |

Hands Off The Bump Tee
by hopey123
After reading a recent review on this I will review my own purchase of this t shirt.
I first found one on Ebay and loved the slogan on it so found out they were from New Look stores so off I went in search of one. I was very protective of my bump in my pregnancies and hated people to touch me apart from nearest and dearest. You ... wouldn't walk up to a stranger at the shops who wasn't pregnant and just touch her tummy so what gives people the right to do it when you are pregnant, it's like you suddenly become public property. That wound me up as much as the "oh you haven't had it yet" whilst you are stood like a beached whale in front of them..
Anyway this was when I was expecting my youngest I got this top and have only recently put it into recycling as no more children planned and there was still plenty of wear left in it and seeing as it was a maternity top couldn't carry on wearing it about lol.
The slogan on the front reads as Hands off the bump and underneath it has two hand prints which are right over the bump area. This slogan is kind of a joke but for me it was a warning to people, but they would still touch and I'd be like "can't you read" they would just laugh.
The top is 100% cotton and fairly thin. It has a scoop neckline short sleeves and at the sides there was a small gathered bit which allowed for it to stretch as the bump grew bigger.
It was machine washable at 30oc recommended. Mine was either being worn or going through the wash so I certainly got my money worth from it.
They currently are selling for £7.99 and available in sizes 8 - 18. You can purchase them online or in certain stores that carry the maternity range.
The one I had was sky blue colour with purple writing on it but currently available are light blue with white, white with red or black with white.
Having spent at least 6 months of constantly wearing mine it lasted very well and still had plenty of wear left in it.
A great purchase from a well know high street store. I always found this comfortable to wear and through the summer months it was just right too not too hot or too cold, however if wearing it during winter months I'd advice a cardigan with it. Read the complete review |

New Look Basic Shoestring Vest
by Whizz11
When it comes to basic items of clothing that I need in order to put an outfit together, such as little vests I don't like to spend that much money on them. Generally they are usually under clothing anyway and not seen so they don't need to be that fancy but I need to know that they are good quality and hard wearing as ... well.
My town is one of those high streets that only have a few shop. I say this because you go around quite a few little towns like this and they all seem to have the same stores so maybe its a planning thing but one of the stores we have is New Look so as a consequence I usually always frequent this shop. I sometimes feel I am a bit too old for some of the items in the shop but when it comes to their basics they are really great.
These vests are perfect and something they always have in stock which is nice because I know I can always pick another one up if one gets a stain on or gets damaged in any way. The vests come in a variety of different colours but I usually just get mine in white and black because these are the colours I wear the most and are the colour if the clothing I want these vests to go underneath.
I think probably the best thing about these vests is the price. They cost just £2.99 each or if you buy two they will cost you just £5 or you can purchase three for £7.50. This is great value in my opinion. I think you can never have too many and its always worth having a few as back up in case one is in the wash or another one is not ironed. I have two kids so my clothes are always dirty by the end of the day so it's good to know I have another clean one if needs be and at the price it's not too much of a financial problem.
The vests are made of 35%Cotton and 65% Polyester so the material has a slight stretch to it which is nice. I think these vests fit really well and are nice and flattering. They are form fitting but do not cling to all my lumps and bumps like other vest tops do. The neck is quite rounded but not so low cut that it shows off your bra and then the straps are a nice thin shoe string strap. This portion of the best has stitching on it so it provides a slight contrast to the main material of the vest and this stitching is also found around the neckline too so it gives it a but of a stylish look. This means the vest looks nice just on its own if you want to wear it in the summer. I wear a lot of sheer tops and these vests are perfect under them to protect my modesty. The fitted look means the vest does not bulk me out under my other tops. The straps stay up well, they are not elasticated or anything but generally stay in place because of the nice fit of the vest in the first place.
The vests wash really well. I wash mine at 30 degrees but I don't put them in the dryer. They last well but obviously you do need to replace them from time to time. I have had a couple of these for quite a few years now. Ok, they are not really white any more, I'd say they were more a nice shade of grey but they work perfectly for slobbing around the house.
All in all a great vest as a great price. Read the complete review |
