Asda Cropped Leggings
by karlsm93
One of the reasons for the popularity of leggings is their comfort and secondly their versatility when it comes to wearing them: winter/summer, with pumps/with boots etc etc. Most of my leggings are full length but I have two pairs of cropped leggings from the George range at Asda, which are currently on sale for £6, but I didn't pay ... this for either pair of leggings. During my pregnancy, I picked up a pair of these white cropped leggings for £2 in a bigger size than I usually wear and I wore these a lot in my last couple of months of pregnancy when it was coming into the summer and I was generally a lot warmer with my own constant hot water bottle. I also own a black pair of these cropped leggings in my usual size, which cost me £1, as I picked them up out of season in an Asda sale. Even then, I would pay £6 for these leggings as I think in comparison to some high street shops, this is a very reasonable price given the quality you get.
These leggings are a very comfortable fit, although now that I have had my little girl, I no longer wear my white leggings as they were bought in a bigger size to allow for a growing bump. My black crop leggings however are a great fit, and what I like is that they aren't thin. These leggings are made predominantly of cotton and are thicker than some of the usual paper thin leggings. My leggings sit at just the right length on my leg, just under my knee, which means that when I wear them under a long tunic or under a denim skirt, they look just the right length, to let my legs get a little sun (if there is any!) but at the same time, allow me to wear my summery clothes in slightly cooler summer days and also dresses down a summer dress so I can wear it during the daytime.
During the summer months when I wear these crop leggings, I wash them numerous times, and I have been impressed with how well they have kept their shape and the material is still in great condition.
All in all, I would highly recommend these leggings for the summer. They really are a versatile style of clothing and ideal for when you want to get your summer clothes on but it maybe isn't warm enough to go without tights etc. Great price for a great quality pair of cropped leggings. Asda George Basic Bootcut Denim Jeans
by CosmicLove
I put a lot of weight on during pregnancy and after I had Kai I felt absolutely enormous. Prior to falling pregnant I lived in skinny jeans, but I couldn't fit in any of them after having Kai. :(
While shopping for a couple of new pairs, I decided rather than getting skinny jeans to get some bootcut jeans because I was self ... conscious at the time of my thighs, bum & especially my calves, because I felt like I had cankles which are of course really noticeable when wearing skinny jeans!
These bootcut jeans from Asda were a complete bargain at a fiver each (sale price) and even at the full retail price of a teeny tiny £8 they are a complete steal! I got two pairs and have been really happy with the quality of them and they fit really well.
The design of them is simple and casual, they're just a basic pair of jeans with front and back pockets, a zip and button, belt loops & that's about it, the waistband isn't elasticated but its really comfortable and doesn't dig into my belly or cause it to spill over the top!! Even when I was bigger the waistband was a bit too loose and I needed a belt, though.
The jeans fit really well and don't make my legs look huge or anything, I was slightly worried that they might make my lower legs look big or out of proportion but the flare isn't really obvious, it's just right and it can be tucked into uggs if you don't like the flare.
The material isn't as stiff as my other jeans and it has a slight stretch so I didn't feel restricted while wearing them, they're really comfortable and the material is made from soft cotton and polyester. They're not as thick as most of my other pairs of jeans and feel a bit like a thick heavy weight pair of leggings but this is better than them being really heavy and thick in my opinion.
The jeans come in different shades of blue & navy and i have two navy pairs, which looked almost black when i got them but now look slightly grey. They are easy to style, they're casual jeans and nothing special so are best paired with a simple t shirt/vest/cardigan etc. The jeans don't flap around like some bootcut jeans do, the opening at the bottom isn't massive which is another advantage.
The jeans do wash well, but have faded over time and have gone a bit baggy especially around the knee area. They are now a bit tatty looking and the stitching isn't as neat as it used to be but considering the price they've lasted well.
Sizes available are 8-22. I'd recommend these because they're a real bargain and are very comfortable and not bad quality. Read the complete review |

Asda George Maxi Skirt
by CosmicLove
After I had my son at the beginning of last year I felt extremely fat, frumpy and generally unattractive and oddly shaped!
Due to this I absolutely refused to wear my once loved skinny jeans and even leggings were a no-no because I felt like they showed every lump and bump.
During this time, I went through a ... phase of wearing maxi skirts almost every day if I was going out (and if wasn't I'd just wear pj's!) One of the maxi skirts that I wore regularly was this one, which was probably one of the cheapest ones but I liked the design and it was really comfortable and looked nice.
If I remember right I think it was about £12 which for a maxi skirt is cheap - most of my other ones were £20-£30. The skirt is in the typical maxi skirt design, it's basically a long, flowy skirt! It doesn't have any detail to it really and it is just plain black.
Because I'm only 5 foot 2, I was obviously a bit self conscious that it made me look short and stumpy, which to be honest it did. This was fixed by wearing a pair of wedges or some heeled boots though. Even with heels it would still drag a little on the floor, but not to the point where I was tripping over it.
The skirt is made from a lightweight jersey material which is quite thin and to be fair quite cheap feeling. It's not as floaty as some of my other maxi skirts and is a little clingy around the top of my legs but it flows out at the bottom so it does look nice, and I felt like i looked a lot slimmer in it and my figure looked 'neater' if that's the right word, I just felt more feminine and attractive.
Even though it feels a bit cheap it doesn't look it and it doesn't look any lower in quality than my other maxi skirts which were all more expensive. The skirt has a bit of elegance to it but is one of my more basic and casual maxi skirts, in my opinion it is best suited to casual occasions but it can be dressed up with a nice chiffon blouse or a nice top, but I would just wear it with a vest & cardigan or a nice tee shirt mainly and I'd add a nice belt.
The skirt doesn't wash that well and after a year the waist has lost the elasticity a bit and it is a little bobbly and not as soft and smooth feeling, but it is still wearable and because its a dark material the bobbling is not very noticeable. For the price this is a good, versatile and fashionable skirt and I'd recommend it. Read the complete review |
