Topshop Animal Print Ladder Back Dress
by aclevername
On a recent trip to my local Topshop I saw this dress and I admired it. I was attracted by the bright yellow colour and the bold print on it. Checking the tag I saw it cost £36.00, which I think is quite cheap for Topshop and when I told my sister how much it was she asked if that was a sale price.
I should have known myself ... better than to walk out of the shop without purchasing it and that night I ended up going on the Topshop website and eyeing it up on there as well.
I was going to buy it online along with another dress I found on the website that I really liked, but the other dress had sold out in my size so I decided to wait until the next day and go back to Topshop to see if I could get them both there in my size.
~ Design ~
I bought this dress in a size 10, which is my usual size and I found that it is true to size and it is a nice fit. The dress is available in sizes 6 - 16.
It has a high rounded neck and the back has an open section, which has wide strips of material across, which is why it is described by Topshop as a 'ladder back'.
The dress zips up at the side. The zip is easy to zip up and there are not many seams for the zip to overcome. There is a hook and eye at the top of the zip. I find that this is really difficult to hook as the eye is small and the way it is sewn leaves virtually no room for you to push the hook through it. I can't even do it up when I am not wearing the dress.
The dark yellow colour goes really well with the black, white and purple animal print. The print is bold and striking.
I have had a few compliments when wearing this dress, which I think is probably due to the bold print, which really stands out.
~ Wearing the dress ~
I haven't had this dress very long, but I have worn it a good few times now and I really like it.
It isn't particularly heavy, but I find that the skirt doesn't blow up when there is a gust of wind, which is always a good thing. The dress is not lined though.
The ladder of material strips on the back of the dress has is 'V' shaped and I find that the thick strips of material cover my bra strap at the back so I am still able to wear a bra with the dress.
The material feels soft, delicate and good quality.
The dress is flattering, being fitted at the top, but then the skirt flares out not giving your bum a chance to look big in this.
I have worn this with bare legs and flat shoes and also with black tights and a blazer and I am comfortable with both looks.
I have had no problems with washing the dress. The colour has not ran or faded and the material hasn't bobbled or snagged.
~ Other details ~
Made in Romania.
100% viscose.
Do not tumble dry.
Dry flat.
Wash with similar colours.
Reshape whilst damp.
Iron whilst damp.
~ Conclusion ~
I really like this dress. It is one of my favourite dresses at the moment. It is comfortable and flattering. It is a lovely colour and a nice bold print. The lady who served me in Topshop even admired it as she put it through the till.
The material feels like it is good quality and the zip is easy to zip up, but the hook and eye is really difficult to hook, which is disappointing. I have had to wear it without doing up the hook and eye, but it wouldn't have been obvious with them being at the side of the dress. The dress still must lose a star over this.
I think it is reasonably priced and I would recommend it. You will probably receive lots of compliments as I have. Read the complete review |

Moto Supersoft Leigh Jean
by -becky-
A few months ago I lost a bit of weight, and soon found this as an excuse to update my wardrobe! My skinny jeans were no longer 'skinny' and were baggy, especially around my knees. Lots of friends had told me how amazing Topshop's Leigh jeans were, but me being tight with my money, it took rather a long time to convince me to buy them. ... After a long while debating whether they would be worth the money, I took the plunge and parted with £38 (as much as it killed me to do so!!)
Leigh jeans come in a massive variety of different colours. I'm not sure how many exactly, but you're spoilt for choice - there is no doubt that you will like at least one of them. They also come in the classic blue colour that you usually find jeans in. As I bought mine in the winter, Topshop had the colour 'wine' in which are almost like a burgundy colour. I fell in love with them in the shop and knew that those were the ones I had to have!
The jeans are skin tight (which I think looks great and can be quite slimming) and certainly do live up to what's said on the tag. I hate when jeans are labelled as skinny jeans then end up baggy after a few wears. Well, you don't have to worry about that with these. I wouldn't suggest wearing them if you don't feel comfortable in tight clothes though. I'm usually a size 10 and I'm 5 foot 6, so I opted for waist 28 and length 32. They fit me perfectly, and as you can pick the waist and length they seem to be a much better fit than the regular sizes 8 10 12s and so on. I've never bought a pair of jeans that fit so well!
Just like any other jeans, Leigh jeans have pockets on both the front and back that are a reasonable size to fit a phone or something in. They also have belt loops that can come in handy, although I've never used a belt with mine because they fit like a glove!
I know £38 seems an awful lot of money to spend on one item of clothing, when you can go to Primark and buy a pair of jeans for about £10, but you really are paying for the quality. Leigh jeans are made of supersoft material, so you don't even feel like you're wearing jeans. Mine have had lots of wear yet the colour hasn't faded after being machine washed and the stitching is still well in tact. I'm really happy with them and I'm glad I eventually bought myself a pair.
These jeans can be dressed up or down for any occasion and look great with near enough anything. Mine look great with Converse and a white blouse - a casual outfit that doesn't look scruffy.
Leigh jeans are available both online and in store at Topshop. I always prefer to go to the shop as sometimes the pictures online can be deceiving and I never seem to order the correct size which just wastes money on delivery just to send them back again. Not everyone's like me though, so if you're unsure of what size to get there will be size guides on the website. If you are thinking about buying them online, it'll cost you an extra £4 to get them delivered.

Moto Supersoft Leigh Jean
by MsTricia
I am not a huge Topshop shopper as I find the sizes literally are made for stick insects and the price tag is normally something I can buy a good 3 items for the price of one in this store. However, I do like to browse online and was scrolling through the jeans section the Moto Supersoft Leigh Jeans caught my eye. In line with my new ... years resolution of fixing up the flat it also includes throwing out old things I had been harbouring - including recycling old jeans which no longer fit and many I hadn't fit in since I was 18! This left me with only one pair of jeans so I was eager to re-stock my wardrobe haha!
I bought a pair of Moto Supersoft Acid Leigh Jean for £38 online. I bought it as on that weekend there was a promotion for free delivery, meaning I saved a nice £4 worth of delivery. I could easily go to the store and buy a pair but I rarely have the effort to trawl through the rails in Topshop and it makes me want to run for the hills. Buying them online was a bit tricky as they don't come in the normal sizes like 8,10,12 etc but more waist and length. I tried to follow their guide and opted for a Waist size 28 inches and length 32. I normally wear a size 10 and I am 5"5 so this seemed the right size from my estimate.
The jeans arrived quickly within a few days and came nicely folded up in the packaging. Upon opening I was pleasantly surprised at just how soft they really felt and how nice they looked. They did look a lot lighter on the website but they were a nice washed out, faded blue design which felt excellent quality and I was instantly not regretting that they were worth almost 40 quid.
Happily I undressed and put the jeans on and realised I got the wrong size! A 28 waist is perhaps a bit optimistic for me haha, and in hindsight I definitely should have got a 30! Nevertheless with a bit of sucking and tucking in I could get them on and didn't want to take them off!
The jeans are the epitome of soft and absolutely fit like a glove. They look stylish, are super comfortable and I get loads of compliments when I wear them! I have washed them in the washing machine on 30 degrees and let them dry on a clothes airer and they still look as fab as when I bought them.
I really love these jeans and have now decided I want numerous pairs to mix and match with different colours! They come in varying styles like floral print from normal colours like black, green, red etc. They range from £38-£40 and I think there is a style to suit everyone. Personally these are definitely the best jeans I have ever owned and I can wholeheartedly recommend them. Only thing is next time I may go up a size! Read the complete review |
