Topshop Croc Clean Biker Jacket
by doriee
The croc biker jacket is currently for sale in store and online at www.topshop.com for just £55 which I think is a bargain when it comes to buying a jacket from top shop, they also offer 10% student discount here so you'll be able to get it a bit cheaper too. Top shop is the only place that I could find that offers a punky leather jacket ... range without hoods that isn't too over the top and tacky. This comes in sizes 6 - 16 and is currently only available in black.
The jacket is faux leather which is why it is at the cheaper end of their range. I'm really happy with this because I don't like clothing items which are made from animals so this is perfect for me. Instead of leather this is made of 100% Polyurethane and has been embossed in a crocodile quality according to Top shop. This means that the material is slightly creased and looks slightly worn but in actual fact it is not. This is quite thick but thought nothing of it but great for the winter months in the shop. This is lined as well. There are two zips on the sleeves which start at the cuff, they do undo but it doesn't leave a gay, there is material underneath it. There are two pockets at the from. This is collarless as well. This does up by a cross zip at the front of the jacket.
The first thing I thought when I tried this on is that it's really thick, thicker than my other faux leather jackets. I noticed that this is very well fitted as well. I purchased a size 8 and when putting this on it's has really thin arms so it fits tightly but in a snug way not an uncomfortable way although this says to me that it would be hard to maybe wear a cardigan underneath. I sometimes like to have my sleeves of leather jackets to the elbows because this provides enough cool air to keep me warm and not have to take my jacket off, there is just enough room to pull these up to my elbow but the lining turns inside out when I do this and I have to poke it back into the sleeve which is time consuming and frustrating especially when I'm hot.
This doesn't have a collar but it does have a little bit that sticks up which is only a few millimetres but it's annoying and every time I go to fold it down I can't. So it may as well have one because at least then I would be able to move it out of the way. Doing this up and I realised that this isn't quite cropped but it is short. It comes to my hips and it is fair to say that it did look longer and I would of preferred it to be a few inches longer than it is. When doing this up it's really easy but I struggle to zip this up at my chest but that is through no fault of the jacket. When this is done up it is very hard to unzip these pockets and you can get next to nothing in them as they aren't very deep, You can get a bit of money in there and maybe a bank card or a small phone but nothing else.
Wearing this is really comfortable and this jacket goes with anything I wear so I don't have to worry about it not going. There isn't any room to put a cardie on underneath and because of the lining and this being so fitted it makes me too hot and if I'm walking it makes me really sweaty too which is horrible because there's nothing I can do about it. Overall it is a nice jacket and one that should prove to be helpful in the up coming winter months however I feel I'll be cold to start with and then end up being too hot. Read the complete review |

Topshop Black Peplum Top
by coventry123
If you have read any of my previous reviews you will know that Topshop is my favourite high street store. I don't tend to buy basics like this from Topshop because their prices do tend to be higher than the likes of Primark. This review is of the plain black peplum top. Peplum, for those who don't tend to follow the trends is the name ... given to the shape and fit of the top. It is very fitted at the top and then from the waist it flares out and is loose fitting. I decided to buy this top as I do like this current trend and I decided that it would go well with jeans for a night at a bar with friends and I thought that I could wear it to restaurants etc in the future.
The straps on this top are slightly thicker than spaghetti straps and just like that of regular vest tops. The material is something that I really rate as it is thicker than some of the cheaper peplum tops that I have seen making it better value and durable. There is a line of material at the waist where the top changes shape and then the frilly peplum gives way from there. The changing shape of the top is very, very flattering. Even though the top is very basic I think it is formal and instantly looks like an effort has been made to dress up and look nice.
I bought this top in a size 8 and the fit is perfect, it has a zip on the back to allow extra room for getting into the top as it is designed to be fitted on the top half. The bottom half is very flattering for skimming over the hips. It is also possible to add a skinny belt onto the waist of this top which I did as it adds a bit of colour and extra shape to the otherwise plain top. Jewellery also helps to jazz up this plain top.
I have washed this top twice and the colour and shape has held up after the whole washing and drying process. The material if you are interested is 95% cotton and 5% elastane. The drying process takes quite a while I found due to the material being quite thick but this wasn't a problem for me.
This top is available in sizes 6-16 and costs just £18. I think I remember seeing this top in different colours but im not 100% sure. Overall, I rate this top 5 stars as I have no complaints so far. Read the complete review |

Topshop Black Peplum Top
by PandaEyes
I first saw this peplum style top in my nearest Topshop available in black or cream. I thought it looked smart but feared the price would put me off as clothing is usually quite expensive in Topshop, but I was surprised to see this priced at only £16. Other peplum tops that I have seen almost identical to this by other retailers have ... been priced at over £20.
I decided to try it on as I usually am a size 8 but a lot of Topshop clothes I need to buy in a bigger size as they tend to be a smaller fit. However, the size 8 fit me perfectly as the material is very stretchy, but not so much that it ends up too tight on me and being uncomfortable. This is in fact very comfortable!
I bought this in black but it has since became available in many more colours including white, grey, blue, coral, cream and khaki. I have noticed that they now have a zip on the back which goes down about a third of the way of the top. Mine does not include a zip so I am not sure if they decided to discontinue them for some reason but I have had no problems with pulling mine on or off or it being too tight around the neck, so I don't see the need to have a zip there. The ones with the zips on are now priced at £18 instead of £16 which is how much I paid for mine. Both styles of the top are still available on the Topshop website.
I think this top looks very smart and can be dressed up or can be worn as a more casual look. I wear mine with skinny jeans and it looks very flattering. I also wore a blazer over mine so the flared bit of the top fell just below the jacket which made it stand out even more. I wore it to work and got lots of compliments, I want to go and buy it in more colours!
This is a lovely top and the quality is excellent. I also think it is a reasonable price considering it is from Topshop, where I think a lot of the clothing is overpriced. It is 95% cotton and 5% elastane and is machine washable. It is available in sizes 6 up to 16 and as I mentioned it is true to its size due to the stretchy material. A few of the colours are also available in Topshop's petite and tall sections. Read the complete review |
