I've heard that some men like big fleecy navy blue knickers. Not for themselves - I believe - but to be worn by their girlfriend. At least this is how I understand it from one of my married friends, who seems to be very knowledgeable on the subject. Actually it's her husband that has this fetish, but that's a secret! We got quite hysterical discussing it one night, after a bottle of wine, but both agreed that most men, at least in our limited(!) experience, prefer to see women dressed in a thong or string.

I know that if I want to get my boyfriend 'in the mood' prancing about in a small thong will always do the trick. I've got a whole drawer full of them for emergencies with nothing blue and fleecy anywhere in sight.

I know some girls (and fellas) say thongs are very uncomfortable to wear, especially if the back string is too thin, but I haven't found this to be the case myself. This may be because I'm used to them. I've been wearing them regularly since I realised what boys are really for. Though recently I'm beginning to wonder again about this, but that's another story.

Wearing a thong makes me feel sexy. I look at myself sometimes almost lustfully when I'm getting dressed for work. Of course nobody knows I'm wearing something so brief - well not too many - as I normally have to wear a suit for work. The contrast of the small slither of silk and the rough feel of the suit material keeps me going all day.

One of the often expressed advantages of the thong or string is that it prevents a visable panty line showing underneath thin clothes or trousers. Though this doesn't please my friend's husband as he quite likes the shape of undergarments showing through. It's amazing what you learn on a girls night out.

So let's summarise what's good about thongs:

• Looks good when viewing in the mirror and so increases confidence. <

• Makes the female species feel sexy which is advantageous to males.
• Makes males feel sexy when they see their females wearing them, which is advantageous to females.
• Prevents visable panty line.
• Accentuates the buttocks and makes them appear more rounded and attractive.
• Cool in summer.
• Easily pushed to one side.

And to keep the opinon balanced the bad things about thongs:

• Cellulite becomes less easy to hide.
• Makes big bottoms look very wobbly.
• Highlights spots and rashes.
• Can be uncomfortable if pulled too tight.
• Need to keep bikini (thong) line trimmed.
• Chilly in winter.
• Easily pushed to one side.

My own opinion, as you will have gathered, is that thongs are essential to a happy life.
