I've never been a big fan of American Apparel, but really fell in love with these socks when they first came into fashion last year.

I bought mine directly from the American Apparel website for £20, which is much, much more than i'd usually pay for a nice top, let alone a pair of socks! I had looked around in cheaper shops but simply couldn't find anything that was similar or looked remotely like the american apparel socks, so saw no other option than to splash out and buy myself a pair. I'll admit i bought them purely because everyone else had a pair and i thought they looked amazing!

The socks are lovely and soft, and are a knitted style. American Apparel state the material as been: 85% Polyester, 13% Nylon, 2% Elastane. The socks are white with 2 blue stripes and 1 red stripe in the middle of the blue stripes. The stripes are at the very top, the rest of the sock is plain white. They're pretty long and come mid thigh on me, i'm only 5'3 so they wouldn't look as long on taller girls. I think they do add a bit of length to my legs though!

They're not ideal to be worn with a leaotard (as pictured above), because that look in my opinion is way outdated and i think people would be a bit taken back if they saw someone walking through town dressed like the model! I wear mine with hotpants, a bodycon dress, a short floral dress or a bodycon skirt. Shoe wise i wear them either with pumps, brouges or heels. I don't wear them with jeans because at £20, i want to show them off! I think they'd be nice in the winter though underneath jeans or over the top of leggings.

The socks add lots of character to any outfit and are instantly noticeable to most people as an american apparel product. They also keep my legs nice and warm and are stretchy & comfy.

Overall, i'm not sure if i'd reccomend them. The price is a big put off, and thigh high socks can be bought in primark etc for £2-£6, but ofcourse there aren't any socks that are identical to these. I've not seen many people about wearing them apart from a few uni friends, and so i feel the socks look unique when i wear them. They seem to last well and i've had mine or a while and they've not shrunk in the wash or bobbled and they feel & look good quality.
