In this day an age it seems like you're in minority if you haven't been to an Ann Summers party and been wowed with all of the fancy underwear. Well if you haven't, and you're too embarrassed to go into the shop then here's my low down on the bras!
THE RANGE - There's a fantastic range of styles! Don't presume that just because Ann Summers sell a few naughty items that all of their bras are naughty, some of them are actually really pretty. From lacy see through bras to satin not so see through bras. Yes, you can guarantee that there's always a bra or two there that is so unsupportive that even Ariel the Mermaids efforts of two sea shells stuck together would be more supportive... but on the whole their core range covers the whole cup and offers some support! One of the only negatives here is that if you do have a larger bust, not all of the bras will be available in your cup size, they only do certain bras in the larger cup sizes which is really quite frustrating!
THE PRICE - I've picked up a few bargains with the bras from Ann Summers, in Christmas sales two years ago I remember picking up a few for £5 each!! But full price the bras can cost up to £30.
THE FIT - This is a tricky one to explain, when I was a bit smaller I found that the Ann Summers bras fit me well and offered support (I was around a D cup at this stage). But as I went up a few cup sizes I realised that they do not cater for a large bust very well. I found, even though I had chosen the correct size the bra was giving me "four boob syndrome" as I like to call it - the bra was digging in and you could see it through my top. I tried on a few styles and if they weren't digging in they were far too low cut and saggy making me not feel very confident about their support at all. So I'd say if you are a D or smaller you'll be fine, but if you're not this probably isn't the shop for you.
Right, I have a very split opinion on this quite pricey bra! I went for a fitting and after the fitting she suggested this bra ( I'm easily pressured into buying things!) when I first tried it on, it really was like I had had a boob job, I loved everything about it, I bought it no questions asked! I got home and showed it to my boyfriend, who needless to say, also loved it, maybe more than I did! However, this whole instant boob job effect only seemed to last for a month or so, now when I where it, it's just like any other t-shirt bra, which, to be honest I don't really find acceptable for the £25.00 price tag it came with...I don't think I would buy another though. The other upside to this bra is that it does have a lovely pattern and comes in various styles and colours with matching knickers, things and g-strings which is cute if your out to impress ladies! Ann summers is also great for providing bigger cup sizes but still making the bras feminine and pretty! Also, if you do buy this bra, for the love of god, make sure you take out the chicken fillet type things because there like little bean bags and they will burst everywhere in your washer!!xoxo
Ann summers is a name that most of you women out there will have heard of and I dare say most of us have been to a party or too of there's in our time but you can also shop online with them as I do most often.
With Ann summers being a seller of some what naughtier items for the bedroom I was expecting there underwear and bra collection to be really provocative and not really suitable for every day wear but I was very wrong, don't get me wrong there are some of there items of underwear and bras that I look at and think I wouldn't wear that but the most of it is suitable for every day wear if you are fan of lace and pretty bras rather than the plain t shirt style bra.
One of my favourite things about there bras is there sizing, they have a wonderful selection unlike a lot of other places where I struggle to find a 32dd but these always have a good selection of styles in plunge or balconet at affordable prices.
Most of there bras are available starting at a size 32a going right up to a 38dd but unfortunately as I found out whilst pregnant with my last child the don't go any bigger than a double d cup.
There styles range from plain bras with a little bit of lace trim to really sexy bras with all lace and pretty bow details, they are all at affordable and reasonable prices for the quality as they wash and wear really well even though I have a habit of drying mine in the dryer they have never lost there shape.
If you are looking for something special then this is the place to shop.
Well to start off if you want sexy then ann summers is definately the place to go because that is certainly what you will get. They are much sexier than La Senza but not as provocative as you would get in somewhere like Hustler. I have been buying underwear from Ann Summers for many years and love the fit, colours and ranges of the bras and all underwear. What ever pattern you are looking for you can get, they come in many different colours, many different patterns, many different styles and many different sizes ranging from girly to sexy.
Although i do love Ann Summers bras i do sometimes find them a little over priced but i have to admit it i still find myself spending my money on them. Even better if you can get the boyfriend to buy them for you and im sure that wouldnt be a problem.
What I will say first and foremost, is that Ann Summers make gorgeous looking bras. All the designs are very feminine, pretty and sophisticated. The line is just that bit sexier than close competitors La Senza, but not as scandalous as designs you might see in Hustler. Also, Ann Summers bras are all about the little details. If you like heart shaped buttons, frills, bows, ribbons and delicate patterns, these bras will be perfect for you.
However, gorgeous as these bras look, they are nothing compared to the long line of problems I have with these bras - starting with the fit. Maybe it's just my chest in particular but I've found it very rare for an Ann Summers bra to suit my lady lumps well! Most of the bras have little padding or support, it really does seem the whole design budget was spent on pretty buttons and none spent on the inside of the garment.
Aside from looking awful, many of the bras feel awful as well. After buying and taking home the only bra that has ever suited me, after just wearing it to get ready I could already feel the underwire poking anmd rubbing me. Luckily I'd forgotten to take the tag out of the back and was able to return it, however if I'd had to pay for a bra I couldn't even wear once I would be very upset!
Which leads me to my last issue with the bras - the price. The average cost of a bra from Ann Summers is about £25, which would be fine if the quality of the garment was as good as the look but it isn't. As it stands you're paying £25 for a bra that you can't wear everyday because of how uncomfortable is, which in my opinion is not worth the cost at all.
It's such a shame as well as I love Ann Summers knickers - they're sexy without being trashy, cover/show all the right bits and have gorgeous little details that you won't find on similar versions. At full price averaging about £12 it is quite expensive but if you buy wisely during the sales you can find exactly the same pairs for around £3.
As for the bras, I won't be trying let alone buying one again.
I first went to Ann Summers when I was on the search for a new bra. I had never been there before however was recommended by a friend that they do really high quality stuff. I have to say the have some lovely designs the only problem I was having as a larger chested lady was finding a range I could wear. After having to eliminate 90% of their range I decided on a basic white set. I tried on the bra and it seemed like a perfect fit so i purchased the set which was very expensive at a total of £48 but as it was a one of I thought i would overlook the price and give it a go. After the first wash the bone in the bra started stabbing into my underarm. And the straps didnt stay at the setting I would put them at resulting in me constantly pulling up the starps until I could find a way of adjusting them again! I can say I will not be paying their prices for underwear of such a bad quality again.
This range has some really sexy stuff, and it looks fantastic hence the few stars I've given it. But if you've got big tits - forget it. Unfortunately they only go up to a DD, very occasionally an E cup. Its a shame as their bras would look great on big boobs, but oh well! Maybe if enough people complain they'll listen. But still, if they fit then from what I've heard and seen this is the best range of lingerie to buy....its beautiful and there's nothing wrong with tarty bras/undies! After all, you choose who sees them.
I don't like Ann Summers bras really because they are a bit tarty. That's no great surprise, but I also find that they don't it particularly well. I won't dwell on the styles available, but all I will say is that they are fairly tasteless, especially if you have, erm, bigger breasts because there is a smaller range available and it isn't the sexiest of the bunch, what a surprise.... As for the fit, well, I'm told that if you're a 32B for instance, you can get away with a 34B or even a 32C because the sizes are quite small, but like many makes of bra, this theme goes to pot as you go up in size. I'm a 34D in every other shop apart from Ann Summers in which I've been unable to find one that fits and is comfy. I tried a 34D in a black velvet padded plunge bra, and it was just terrible. Firstly, it was quite tight around my chest, and secondly, it was baggy at the "cleavage", leading to not-so-alluring cleavage in all honesty. So I tried a few other sizes, like a 36D, which was not tight, but still baggy, if not more so.....a 34E which was really tight and majorly baggy due to lack of breasts on my part....all in all, not appropriate or sexy. Having said that, friends with smaller boobs have no problems with these bras, although the sizes are quite small. Also, Ann Summers isn't cheap, and at about 20-25 quid for a bra, I really wouldn't recommend them. It's a shame because it is kind of sexy to have Ann Summers undies, but personally, I'd go elsewhere, especially if you've got larger breasts. Sorry to disappoint!
