“ Brand: Asda / Type: Dress / Clothing Class: Evening Wear „
I bought this dress in Asda whilst I was still pregnant, I bought it in a size 14 and rather than the original £22 I paid £5 for it.
I didn't buy it to wear then, but rather with the intent of wearing it after I had had the baby.
My birthday falls just after my son's due date and I was hoping that he would arrive on time so I could still go out for a meal on my birthday! My son actually arrived on my grandfathers birthday which is just 4 day's before mine and after having had another c-section I knew I wouldn't be hurrying out anytime soon!
My stepmum offered to babysit the boys for me when I was recovered and I took her up on her offer, 5 weeks recovery I guessed was more than enough to allow me to have a good night out.
After sitting in the wardrobe for months I knew I had the perfect dress to wear out so slapping on some fake tan and doing my hair I started getting quite excited!
The dress is gorgeous, this was the first time for me to even try it on so I was glad it fitted. The fabric of the dress feels really luxiourious and comfortable and the ruffles made me feel more confident about my pre pregnancy body!
It has such a fantastic shape to it, and the boned front gives it such a great shape. The zip is located at the back and is a bit fiddly as the zipper is really tiny but it doesn't affect the doing up of the dress at all.
The slightly stretchy fabric means the skirt part of the dress hugs your legs nicely and gives you a really beautiful shape.
The only drawback of this dress is that it is dry clean only!
It is once again hanging in my wardrobe and will no doubt be worn again sometime in the near future.
I do like the clothing Asda have to offer and this is no different.
I don't usually like the clothes on sale in Asda, but since a shopping trip a while back I have changed my mind about some of their items.
As I go to college which has an Asda almost next door, myself and friends went there for our lunch and had a quick browse of the clothing (mostly due to the sale they had at the time). Searching through the items I was lucky enough to come across this dress, which at first glance flat on a hanger didn't appeal greatly. After much persuasion I tried it on and I fell in love. It flattered my shape and gave curve to my boyish frame with the ruffles.
The dress was originally priced at £22 but was half price at the time (£11) so I couldn't resist buying it. As far as I'm aware its only available in black, which is fine by me!
The dress has a sweetheart neckline and is boned to give you a 'to die for' shape. At the waist, it fans out with two rows of ruffles along the tulip skirt. It defines your waist and gives you a lovely shape - even if you don't have one like me, as I have already mentioned. There is a zip up the back to tuck you in and it is very size perfect, meaning you do not have to faff about with other sizes. Its tight, but not tight enough for it to be uncomfortable. As far as I'm aware, it can be brought for sizes 8-20 (possibly size 6 too but I'm not sure).
The dress is dry clean only due to the make up of fabrics, which to be honest unless you wear it all the time is not an issue. I've worn it about 5 times in the past few months which isn't a lot if you think about it.
I don't think this dress is suitable for casual wear, it is more of a party dress or for a more posh event. I have worn it on nights out, family meals and other occasions and have always been complimented on my figure when I wear it.
In honesty, you cannot go wrong for £11, but as its limited edition it may have already gone so get searching on eBay or asdadirect.com. My only issue is the dry cleaning which shouldn't of been there as its an item from a supermarket - nice bill when I wash it there! I suppose it does make you extra careful, but for this reason I have rated it down a star.
Recently I had a bit of a spend up in Asda. Lucky for me there was a sale on instore on the run up to Christmas and now there is a sale on still by the way and I found this dress available in only one colour option (which is black) reduced from £22.00 to £11.00 and after trying it on liked it and treated myself to it.
The Dress Itself:
This dress is made from: Main: 63% Nylon, 37% Polyester, Lining: 975 Cotton, 3% Elastane and the dress length is 66 cm/26 inches. The only negative about this dress is that it is dry clean only which I didn't realise till I saw the small care label within the dress once I got home.
What you get is a not too low cut and very slightly structured with 'bones' bustier top which nips into the waist neatly then the skirt is tulip shaped with two large frills that go around the whole of the dress, a small slit to the back of the dress and an integrated black zip also to the back of the dress as well. This dress has a slight shine to it but it is subtle and not cheap looking and the slight structure of this dress really does enhance curves (even mine and I don't really have any lol).
This is a comfortable well tailored evening dress and if you like the style there is nothing to complain about apart from the dry cleaning bill of something that comes from a supermarket, however I find this to be a true to size item, padded slightly to the breast area which again enhances it and protects nipples from being seen and the deep frills around it will help to cover any lumps and bumps you want to.
I really do like this dress though it is a fashion item rather than a classic but its well made, double stitched in most places and in my opinion will suit most figures and it is available in sizes 6-20.
A nice item for £11.00 but hurry while Asda still have a few or try asdadirect.com which still at the time of writing this review have all sizes I have listed of this frock!
