Advantages: Comfy, Cheap
Disadvantages: Fading already
I usually wear long pj's (trousers and jumper or shorts and a t shirt), but as it's getting into the warmer weather now i decided to get one of these nighties after seeing it instore at my local Asda.
The nightie was originally £7 but had been reduced to just £3, which was a real bargain in my eyes! On the George website they are reduced to £4 at the moment which is still a bargain. Despite the big price drop, suprisingly most sizes were still in stock in my local Asda apart from the much larger sizes (20-22), however these are still available on the George website. Other sizes are: 8-10, 10-12, 12-14, 16-18. I am quite petite and a size 8 so got an 8-10 which is a bit too big for me so these are obviously generous in size.
It's quite a basic nightie but the neckline detailing (white lace with a small bow on the bust which is a lovely little touch) adds a more upper class, M&S look to it. The only colour as far as i am aware is a dark flamingo type pink which is very girly and vibrant. The straps of the nightdress aren't the thick type - they're more a 'spaghetti strap', and if i'm honest are quite flimsy and not at all supportive, they don't do a great job in keeping my bust contained during the nights when i'm moving about alot in my sleep. The neckline is also very low so does show off the bust, adding a hint of lingerie to it however the length is modest and comes to my mid thigh (i'm 5'3), on taller girls i think this would be more of a 'sexy time' nightie rather than a casual nightdress. That's just my opinion though. The hem is frilled which adds a slightly more innocent and girly look but it's still overall quite revealing!
The material of this nightie is very soft, lightweight and has a bit of stretch to it so it's not uncomfortably tight, (i don't have this problem though as it seems to be quite generous in size), it is made up of 65% Polyester and 35% Viscose. The nightdress is machine washable and i have had no problems with bobbling however i have found after 2 washes it is already starting to lose shape and is slightly (very slightly) fading.
Overall i am not sure if to reccomend this. If buying on offer it's okay, but i wouldn't pay £7 for it as it's a bit of a confusing item of clothing (half way between casual nightwear and lingerie), it is comfy and looks good and is lightweight for the summer nights however doesn't seem like it's going to last very long.
