“ Brand: ASOS / Type: Top / Vest „
Like most girls I love clothes, and I just can't seem to stop myself from placing regular orders with online super-retailer www.ASOS.com. One of my favourite everyday styles is the layered look and I like to keep a good supply of basic vest tops in my wardrobe. This Basic Scoop Neck Lightweight Vest is available exclusively from ASOS costing RRP £6.00, and then was reduced to just £4.00 in the sale. This top was available in a range of colours, and I bought one each in white and black as I prefer plain neutral shades that will blend in with other pieces when I'm putting an outfit together. The first time I purchased this vest top I went for the white version in a UK size 10 which is my usual size. I found that it felt a bit on the loose side and was not as closely fitted as I would have liked. When I saw that this product had been reduced in the sales I decided to buy another in black, and this time went down one size to a UK 8 which gave a more skin tight fitted feel that I wanted. I primarily chose these basic vests as they have a plain design and can be worn under jackets, cardigans or blouses to give a bit extra coverage and layer up for warmth. The front neckline is scoop cut and comes down fairly low which may look more revealing on someone with a larger chest, but it keeps my rather flat chest covered up as well as skimming my minimal curves in a flattering way. The back neckline also features a scoop detail which exposes some of the upper back, which is great for hot weather of I'm wearing it without another top over it, but can look a bit odd if it's showing through a sheer fabric blouse, and is a touch too revealing for wearing around the office so I make sure to keep my shoulders covered if I'm wearing this to work. The vest has a nice length and falls down to hip length on me, which means that I can wear it loose or tucked into my waistband for a neater look. The fabric is made of 100% viscose which is stretchy enough to allow for ease of movement, and feels comfortable against the skin. It's very simple to look after the garment as it is doesn't really seem to crease and so I tend to just wash and dry it then store it away in my cupboard without the need for ironing, which is always a bonus! I always wash on a cool setting of 30 degrees, and this works just fine to get it nice and clean and fresh for wearing again. The only real negative about this top is that after wearing it once the fabric seems to go slack and loosens up, meaning that by the time I take it off it looks stretched out and baggy. I like to re-wear my clothes as much as possible before washing is necessary, and it's annoying that even if the top is still clean and appears good enough to wear again, I still have to put it in the wash anyway so that it regains its original shape and keeps its fitted style. Maybe it's due to the fibre content because the fabric appears stretchy in that it moves around easily and stretches with wear and use, but it also seems to lack enough elasticity for the fabric to stay in shape properly without extra laundry work. This basic vest is a reasonably priced wardrobe staple and it suits its purpose for everyday casual wear, but there are better quality versions out there.
I do love ASOS as you may already know if you've read some of my reviews of their stuff, but I do think that lately it has been getting a bit big for its boots and increasing their prices a lot! But you just can't go wrong when it comes to the "ASOS Basics". This vest, as simple as it is, is probably one of my favourite buys from ASOS as it has had so many uses! The vest has a scoop neck which I must say is very flattering and depending on what you're wearing it can help form a nice shape over your bust. The vest doesn't hang shapelessly either, it's loose enough to be comfortable but it also fits my body shape nicely and looks really stylish. It is available in a variety of colours including; White, Black, Blue & Pink ... and I own all 4! They are only £6 each and I've had plenty of use out of them and have found I can wear them on any occasion from a casual day round the shops, at work or on a night out. As they are Lightweight they aren't very warm for in the winter so you'll need extra layers if you're going to wear this vest - but for Summer they are absolutely perfect! I must also mention that aside from the neutral Black & White vests which are the classics, the Blue and Pink are both stunning shades and very eye catching. They are 100% Viscose which is lovely and soft too! I started to buy these Vests gradually over the last 2 years, collecting each colour as I went along, and I've found that even my oldest one is still in top condition even after a lot of use and a lot of washes! These vests are available in Size 6 UK all the way up to Size 18 UK and they will suit anyone no matter what your style is. They are miles better than the cheapy £1.50 vest you can get in the likes of Primark and definetely worth the few extra quid. They are also available in the ASOS CURVE & ASOS PETITE range so they are clearly very popular and good old ASOS is accomodating for everyone!
I'm a big fan when it comes to lightweight tops and vests as I wear them quite often with leggings and little cardigans. I've recently bought a really nice black blouse which is very see through and wanted a nice black vest to wear underneath. So I decided to purchase this as it look nice and was very cheap. Its a very simple design, it is a scoop neck at the front and back. It is made out of 100% Viscose with a soft stretch. It is quite low cut and seeing as I have a fair amount of cleavage it does show it off, but not to the extent where I feel uncomfortable and as I tend to wear these types of vests under things it nots an issue. Also its coming up to summer, when more flesh will definitely be shown, so I know I will fit in well! Its very comfortable to wear, and doesn't irritate my skin, as I do sometimes find with some vests irritate my under arms. It is very versatile and can be worn with anything and also for any occasion whether its casual or a bit more dressy, which is brilliant! It comes down to the bottom of my hips, so can easily be worn with leggings as well, which I pretty much live in. It comes in several different colours: Black, White, Beige, Coral, Royal Blue, Purple and Light pink. Its available in sizes 4-16. I bought a size 10 instead of my usual 8 as I like vests to be a little baggy, it still is quite fitting showing off my figure nicely. I bought this for £6 which I think is very cheap and the quality is excellent. It is easy to clean as you can machine wash this, I have also tumble dried and ironed it and still looks no different. Overall a lovely style of vest and great quality. A must have in your wardrobe!
With it coming up to summer, i've been stocking up on plenty of short sleeved tops, the Asos Basic Scoop Neck Lightweight Vest been one of them. Style: This is a nice and simple jersey style vest with a scooped neckline at both the front and back. It's quite a low cut vest and i was suprised at how much it does show! It's not ideal if you're not one to have a bit of cleavege on show but it does support me well and the material stretches nicely. It comes just below my waist/hips when i'm wearing it so it's not too long but not too short. I usually prefer longer vests to cover my legs up but this is a nice change and it doesn't feel uncomfortable. Asos describe the vest as been 'in the style of Kate Moss'. At first i thought this meant she'd designed it but it simply means she's been seen wearing one similar. A bit misleading me thinks! It's still a nice, basic vest though and pretty versatile; it can be worn with jeans, chinos, skirts, etc without looking out of place. It can be casual or dressed up with jewellery. The vest is available in 7 colours; - Black - White - 'Flawless' Pink - This is a light/baby pink - Purple - Taupe (Beige) - Coral - Blue (Royal Blue) The sizes start at a 4 and go upto a 16. I'm a size 8 and found the vest to be well fitting and also a lovely, soft material. The vest is 100% Viscose and can be washed in a washing machin at 40 degrees. My vest so far (i've had it for 2 weeks), has survived multiple washes, been ironed etc and still looks as new. The label in the back of the vest says ASOS in the usual logo. At £6 per vest i personally think they're a bargain, admittedly you can get similar vests for half the price in primark but for the extra quality and nicer, longer lasting material i'm content with what i paid. Reccomended as a wardrobe staple; can be layered or worn casually with jeans etc and it's a good quality item of clothing.
Vests always seem to be so useful for wearing with anything - pants, skirts, under dresses or tops and I always am buying more to add to my collection. I didn't actually have a longline black vest which was quite annoying because it meant I couldn't wear a black vest and leggings! I had a £10 off ASOS voucher a while back when they were all going around and thought that I would just treat myself to some little things so ended up getting a vest and some bits and pieces of make up. The picture shows it to be a scoop neck black vest that is quite basic as it doesn't have any patterns or anything on it, it is just plain black, it basically came as expected apart from that in the picture it looked quite longline and it also said this in the description yet when I put it on it just seems like a normal vest length to me, certainly not really the vest length to wear with leggings! Also it was quite thin material, not really what I'd expect from ASOS but then again maybe I should have guessed this by the 'basic' in its name. Obviously as it ASOS brand you can only get it from the ASOS site, the label in the back of it says ASOS essentials. I think that it is quite a good buy the way that I got it because it is an essential piece of clothing and can be worn in loads of different ways with different outfits, although I'm not sure if I would have been that happy to pay £6 for it if I didn't have the code!
