The ASOS Jersey Micro Mini skirts have been on the ASOS site for quite some time now and I can remember when they were first released following a public appearance of Ashley Olsen wearing pretty much the exact same type of skirt and fashion lovers went crazy for the style. Being a fashion addict myself, I of course had to get in on the action!
When I came to buy this skirt I was spoilt for choice as there were at least 10 different shades available and all of them were equally gorgeous! I could picture myself in every single one of them and I did ponder over which colour to buy. In the end I bought 2 - Raspberry Pink & Teal and they cost me £12 each. I loved that they were Micro Mini as it is a style that hasn't been popular for a while and also the "Bodycon" fit of them which basically means that they cling to your body shape, also looked really flattering.
When my skirts arrived, I tried them on and I was pleased. They were exactly as they looked on the ASOS site and the shades I had bought were stunning. They are decent quality Jersey material which feels very lightweight, which for me made them more comfortable to wear. At first I wore them on night outs teamed with Heels and I actually felt slimmer wearing the skirt as it is a tube fit and I felt like it was holding back any lumps or bumps! I was a bit worried that I would be pulling them down all night with them being Micro Mini, but they didn't ride up at all and were a nice length for what I wanted so thankfully I didn't end up having to do that.
I have to say that I personally don't think these skirts would fit the figure of a bigger lady as they are just too clingy, I'm a Size 12 UK and I just about got away with wearing them and as I said it helped hold in any unflattering bumps. But any bigger and I think the skirt could well exagerrate any bumps by being so figure hugging.
It is of course up to the individual wearer though on what they are comfortable with and the Skirt is available from Size 6 UK up to Size 16 UK. It is 95% Viscose and 5% Elastane which is quite stretchy so even though it's a bodycon skirt, you don't have to squeeze yourself into it!
My skirts come out nicely after they've been in the wash and have stayed in their original condition, so overall I'm happy with them. Over the Summer I wore these skirts for a more casual look with flip flops and a simple vest to the beach etc. so they are coming in very handy.
This is pretty much a slightly shorter bodycon/tube skirt.
The skirt is 12 and a half inches long which to be honest isn't really micro mini in my opinion and i thought it'd be much shorter, but it was my fault for not reading the product description thoroughly enough.
The skirt is a stretchy jersey material with an elasticated waistband which adds comfort. It's not a high waisted skirt and can't really be worn high waisted due to the length unless you're really daring!
I'm only 5'3 and find it short, but not ridiculously short and i don't think it looks trashy or cheap due to the bodycon style as i feel that adds a much more professional look, especially compared to a denim mini skirt. It's quite a discreet skirt and is nice and versatile, been ideal to wear out to clubs and meals etc and i can also wear it at uni.
Ofcourse for most people (me included), it's much more of a sexy, going out skirt; wearing long socks and heels with it when i'm out really gets the men going and my boyfriend loves it when i wear it because 'it shows my curvy bum off!' Bless him; it's nice to wear something that i look good in for him and i doubt many guys would find this skirt a turn off.
It's probably not the kind of skirt to wear if you're self concious about your body, and although it's flattering it is very clingy and can make me feel a bit self concious that my flab is showing sometimes.
If wearing it at uni i do wear it with thick tights to be on the safe side as i don't want people getting the wrong impression because people judge quickly, and more uptight, snobby-look-down-there-nose type people (a certian lecturer of mine!) would probably think it was too short - so it's probably not the type of skirt to wear to work etc unless you're laid back and don't care what people think!
It's also very figure hugging and shows the curves of my bum and hips, while still looking flattering.
My skirt is grey and there are 9 other colours available; Black, navy, khaki, pink, teal, green, white, blue and brown. I love all the colour options and chose the grey as it's more discreet, but am considering buying myself one in brown, which is more of a sandy colour than brown in my opinion.
Sizes start at a UK6 and go upto UK18. I'm a size 8 and got a size 6 to ensure it's nice and tight, which it is, and due to the stretchy material it's adjusted to my couple of extra inches!
I bought my skirt for a very reasonable £12 from Asos with free delivery and was happy with paying that.
The skirt is made up of 95% Viscose and 5% Elastane and can be machine washed with items of a similar colour at 40 degrees, but can't be tumble dryed, dry clearned, ironed or bleached.
Overall id' reccomend it. It's good quality and looks great, and i feel £12 is very reasonable.
