Advantages: was cheap at the time
Disadvantages: not long enough, thin material, poorly made slit
Anyone who knows me, knows I love asos. I browse the website daily, adding all kinds of garments into my saved items list, and when I get paid I often like to treat myself to an item or two from there which usually has decreased in price. Around September last year, one of the items I bought was this Maxi skirt with a thigh high split.
For starters me and asos had a big falling out. I bought this skirt in black - chose black at checkout everything. It came in a plastic wrapping which clearly was labelled black - size 10 (my size I might add) with a packing slip which also said black, asos maxi skirt with thigh high split in size 10....and yet inside the package the skirt was red! Not impressed! I was so annoyed I didn't even try it on but sent it back to asos very angrily. I wrote them saying the wrong item was sent and eagerly waited for my new black skirt to arrive....
Few days later the black skirt came. Yippee! I unwrapped parcel no.2 and saw a black skirt (insert cheesy grin here) and excitedly tried it on. Hmm. The skirt was not all I had hoped! It was black but much more a washed out black so quite faded and hardly looked brand new. The material is thin and so definitely a more summer garment as it could barely keep the wind from my skinny legs.
The thigh high split is really awkward. On the model it comes up very nicely where she poses with her leg sticking out but in reality it looks more like someone has just cut a huge chunk of the material out. This is what I get for not watching how it looks on the catwalk and only being sucked in by how the model poses in it! The split doesn't look particularly attractive or sexy on my legs more just really open and trashy.
My other problem with this skirt is the length. As a "maxi skirt" I expected it to be really long. I am no Heidi Klum at a very modest 5"5 but the skirt barely touched my ankles it is not long at all! The model in the picture also looks as though she is wearing it up quite high but I literally had to have the waistband (good job its elasticated) literally down on my hips so it could look long enough.
I have worn this skirt on only one occasion as after all my fuss with the red skirt I didn't want to lose my principles and tell my other half I didn't even like the skirt when he's always telling me to stop buying online anyway lol. Sadly though, overall I am quite disappointed in this item from asos and I don't think I will be buying it again. At the time of purchase it was reduced to a mere tenner which is why I bought it as it seemed a bargain but for the disappointment I wouldn't recommend.
Summary: not the best from asos
