“ Brand: ASOS / Type: Leggings „
It took me a while to come around to the leggings trend, after seeing so many bad examples of how NOT to wear leggings on badly dressed girls around town. Eventually I realised that if they are worn with the right outfits they can be incredibly versatile and practical. I picked up these Pleat Biker Leggings from www.ASOS.com in their big New Year's sale where they were reduced from the RRP of £20.00 to a more reasonable £10.00.
These Biker style pleated leggings are a little bit more interesting than ordinary plain leggings as they have a neat detail over the leg sections. There are pleated areas across the front of the knee, and also a smaller pleated area across the back of the knee. This is supposed to represent the look of biker safety gear which has padding in these places for extra protection in case of accidents. The leggings are full length and have quite a lot of stretch to them so they have a nice close fitted look and stretch out to cover the curves of your body perfectly. Because they are so stretchy they are very comfortable to wear.
I have these in size 10 and the inside leg measurement is stated as 30in (76cm), however I've found that they seem much longer than this and I end up with a bit of bunched material around the bottom on my ankles unless I stretch the ends of the leggings down to cover over my heels and bring the material down over my feet. This seems to fit ok and helps to keep the leggings from rolling up when I'm walking. I do like the longer length as this means I can tuck them down inside my boots.
The material is made from 95% Viscose and 5% Elastene. This mix feels very soft against the skin and is incredibly comfortable to wear. I really like how these leggings feel as it's sort of like having a protective outer layer that fits perfectly over my legs and keeps me warm and cosy! I like to wear these leggings as part of a layered look and they go with plenty of my skirts, dresses and long tunic tops. They have a dull khaki colour which is one of my favourite shades for clothing, and I think this neutral tone works well with blacks, nudes, and deep coloured shades.
These leggings are machine washable at 40 degrees which is great as I much prefer easy care items if it's something that I will want to wear and wash frequently. I put these in the washing machine on my normal washing cycle at 30 degrees they don't need ironing afterwards as the stretchy fabric does not crease. I've had my pair since February and I have worn them fairly regularly over this time. The fabric feels nice to wear as it is so soft, but I have noticed that after wearing and washing the material started to show some obvious signs of wear and tear quite early on. Within a couple of months of owning them there were areas of bobbling appearing, and this is not what I would expect to see on such a new item. There are no major areas of damage, but the pilling and bobbling has spread a bit and the material does not seem to be particularly hardwearing.
Overall, I would recommend these ASOS Pleat Biker Leggings as they have a flattering fit and feel very comfortable to wear.
If you skim through the pages of magazines such as Closer and Look you will see that a big trend is the 'biker chic' look including leather jackets and knee pads. Asos is a leading manufacturer of the latest fashions and they are leading the way again with this trend.
These leggings are full length and grey in colour which is a great colour for the biker chic look as it tends to be quite dark and grungy. On the knee there is a sideways triangle shape which has a ruched line effect giving the look of biker gear. Given that the rest of the legging is plain the detail really stands out and is highly fashionable. Leggings in themselves are very versatile and can be worn with almost anything! To complete the biker look with these leggings I always wear an oversized white vest, studded jewellery, black boots and a leather jacket but they can also be worn for nights out with a long top and high heels.
The material is 95% viscose and 5% elastane, they are soft on the skin and tight fitting with an elasticated waist. The material feels thicker than most black leggings I own which means that they will be less susceptible to ending up with holes in!
These leggings were available in sizes 6-18 and available in grey or kaki green, these leggings have sold out before and come back onto the Asos site so keep your eyes peeled if these are right up your street!
I paid £20 for these leggings but Asos are always having sales so chances are they will decrease in price. £20 is quite pricey for leggings but they do have the extra edge with the design and they are good quality.
These leggings are highly recommended if you want to treat yourself to an on trend item, I have managed to get a lot of wear out of them and they go with lots of my wardrobe including vests and cardigans.
