A nice dress for a special occasion

It is safe to say I don't often get the opportunity to go out on a night out because as a single mum I don't really have the time or the spare cash to regularly go out drinking and it is not something I would want to do anyway! However, for my most recent birthday my two cousins, my sister and I decided to do a 500 mile round trip to go to Brentwood, Essex for a night out and we all decided we should go for a dress that was a bit dressier than one which we would normally wear. The dress I ended up choosing was the asos mesh strapless dress with pearl waist trim. The dress caught my eye first and foremost as it looked more dressy than one which I would wear if I were to be going out more locally. It is a cream coloured strapless mini dress which features a trim a little under the bust which is decorated with pearls and other little beads which looks quite glamorous I think. I have to say that on the website the dress is shown in black as well and if I had been able to order it in black I would have but it wasn't, and still isn't available in black for some reason. The dress features a silky inside lining which is then covered by the overlaying mesh. The silky inside lining is certainly shorter than the mesh lining by an inch or so but even with the mesh lining the dress came above my knee but wasn't too short that I felt uncomfortable. I would say the mesh upper layer does give you that extra feeling of security for someone like me who isn't really all that comfortable in a dress. The mesh isn't a harsh feeling mesh either and it is actually quite soft and floaty I think. The dress is actually made from 100% polyester but it doesn't feel or look cheap in my opinion at all. The dress is a bandeau style and features ruched detail to the bust area which I think adds to the whole look of the dress as well. It is very simple in its look yet it looks quite elegant and trendy at the same time. I would say that the dress is pretty much true to size and it is easy to put on for the most part by putting it over your head and sliding it down in to position, my only real issue was because my boobs are quite big it was tricky to get the dress in to place initially but once there it was fine. The dress is available in sizes 6 to 18 and so there is an option for a good range of sizes I think there. You can machine wash this dress with like colours but I would advise popping it in to some sort of care bag or something as when I washed mine some of the pearls on the waist band seemed to droop and whilst the dress is still fine it is frustrating for me. You cannot iron the mesh part of the dress but you can turn it inside out and iron the inner part which smoothes most of the front too. Initially I was very concerned about transporting the dress to Essex that it would become creased in my case but I hung it on a hanger as soon as we got in the hotel and it seemed to be fine by the time we needed to get ready to go out. The dress is available on the asos website for £45 but I had an offer for 20% off when I bought it making it a much more reasonable price. I do think this is a nice dress for a special occasion though and as it features a full skirt with pleat detail I think it is quite good at hiding any lumps and bumps too personally. Thank you for reading my review!
