“ Brand: BHS / Type: Dress „
Last week for me was the week from hell. Life suddenly went from being steady to rather different with old friendships dying out, new friendships starting up and a new way of life following, hospital appointments and parents coming to visit, to not great news about my health to planning on moving suddenly!
The week started off to a bad start and I was relieved when my parents arrived! My Stepdad seeing I was down in the dumps took me and my mum shopping and one thing I was upset about was the weight gain I have experienced recently due to not being well. We went into BhS just for a nosey really and he made me try on some dresses and shoes and ended up buying me this one and a pair of lovely heels! I was right cheered up and wore it that night to get dolled up and go meal in!
The Dress Itself:
This dress stood out to us all as it simply looks such good quality on the hanger. It is called Ivory and Black, to us though this is a black and white block dress and not ivory at all!
It comes in sizes 8-22 and in my opinion comes up very small in size. I have recently had a weight gain but still am usually a size 12 in clothes weighing in at 10st 10lbs and being 5.8 in height however I needed this in a size 14 which was a bit distressing at first however I do have to admit this is plenty big enough for me without drowning me and really comfy on!
So this is made from 100% polyester and is fully machine washable thought not tumble dry safe due to the lining it has within it.
Style wise this is a lovely looking dress, conservative and not one bit revealing and with a nice longer length, particulary nice for us over 30's who want to look classy not trashy!
The top of the dress is slightly rounded neck, not revealing at all and the main of the dress is black with a large front and back lower panel to the skirt area that is white in colour and then the front and back of the top part of the dress again is white and block panelled within the black material. The sleeves are roomy though not stick out ones and capped and the white zip is integrated to the back of the dress from the top to the bum area. The skirt of the dress is lined with a white lining and the dress is beautifully stitched on the inside and very well finished indeed. There is small slit in the back of the skirt that you need unpick yourself or the skirt being slightly pencil fitted is a little too tight and the dress has little give to it so you have to make sure the size you pick is the right one and on my 5.8 ish frame this comes to below my knees and is very ladylike.
I like the way that this is fitted and shows curves and relys on the pattern and quality of the dress to make a statement rather than my body being on show and for me this is a really nice, grown up mature dress that can be dressed up or down depending on your mood. Sure I wouldnt go nightclubbing in this dress but its lovely to wear for meals and evenings out that are not rowdy and my, I felt a million dollars in this dress and it did draw some compliments to which made me feel good!
The most shocking thing about this dress in my opinion is the price of it. We didnt look at the price of it till my stepdad went to pay for it and at only £30.00 he genuinly thought he hadn't been charged for it and questioned it as he had other purchases to make and thought it was more like over 50 quid! It really is worth every single penny it costs this one and I'm really pleased with it from the way it looks on to the fact it is easy to wash and iron and that I can wear it for many different occasions from meals out to popping a white hat on and going to wedding! Its just lovely and in fact has made me look a the quality of alot of other clothes that I own in a new light and am now saving for more BHS clothes!
Only available from BHS and this dress is also available in a brown and black option as well.
