      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A flattering, v-necked swimming costume available in four colours, and in sizes 8 to 22.

As well as inheriting my grandmother's clear skin and skill with Yorkshire Puddings, I have also inherited the generous family bosom. Unfortunately, ill health over the last few years has left me unable to get enough exercise, and so I have developed rather more of a tummy than I would like. These factors combine to mean that when I am shopping for a swimming costume (my bikini wearing days are well behind me), I'm looking for one that will help disguise my tummy while also giving my bust a decent amount of support. Many 'control' swimsuits can be on the expensive side, and so I was delighted to find the Bhs Plain Mock Wrap Swimsuit, which I have in two colours (Black and Turquoise) and which I have been wearing now for a couple of years.

As we head into summer, there is a lot of advice about at the moment in glossy magazines about which swimsuit/tankini/bikini to wear to suit your particular body type. My current copy of Good Housekeeping arrived yesterday, and it has five pages devoted to this topic. A fashion tip I learned some time ago (from Trinny and Susannah!) is that a V-neck will look flattering if you have a large bust. The Bhs swimsuit has this, and it shows a little bit of cleavage but not too much. It has wide shoulder straps which help disguise my broad shoulders, provide excellent support, and are very comfortable. It also has some gentle ruching at the waist that helps disguise the tummy area. The solid colour with the ever-so-slightly plunging neckline creates a nice 'long' look that I find flattering.

The Plain Mock Wrap Swimsuit has power mesh tummy control and a moderate leg coverage. The Bhs product page describes this swimming costume as having 'a flattering cut to help minimize the tummy, waist and hip' - and I would agree. Made from 80% nylon and 20% elastane, I find it comfy to wear as well as being effective at holding me in in all the right places. Although there is no underwiring, the bust area has foam cups which help add definition. The back is low but not ridiculously so - it's above waist height.

The current product code for the Bhs Plain Mock Wrap Swimsuit is 24800. It is available in Black, Chocolate, Pink and Turquoise, in sizes 8 to 22. The Bhs website currently has this swimsuit on offer, reduced from £22.00 to £17.60. They offer free delivery on orders over £10. Some sizes are limited online at the moment, especially the Turquoise. The swimsuit is machine washable, and it is suggested that you should rinse it thoroughly in cold water immediately after use. I currently own two in this style, one purchased a couple of years ago (which still looks as good as new). I bought the first one instore, and so I was able to try it on to be sure of the fit and comfort. I bought my second one online, having confidence that the style and size would be suitable.

You need to be quite firm when pulling the swimming costume on, but this helps give you the support you're looking for, and once in place it feels both comfortable and secure. It gives me confidence - both in how I look, and also while I'm swimming.

I have found this swimsuit to be ideal for those of us who prefer a more 'modest' look, but who also want something that is both elegant and flattering, and so I am happy to give it five stars. The only fault I can find is that it doesn't come in purple, a colour I would love to wear.
