My sister bought these socks for my son as she knew he was a fan of Marvel superheroes and she also bought them because I had been moaning to her that he was somehow managing to rip all his school socks.
Obviously I would never normally send him to school wearing Marvel character socks as part of his uniform agreement says that he has to wear either plain black, navy or grey socks but the beauty of these socks is that they are secret Marvel socks.
They are secret socks in that from the ankle up they look like plain school socks but on the front of them they are patterned with a Marvel superhero. They came in a pack of three with one pair having the Hulk, one with Spiderman and Wolverine.
The socks are extremely good quality and are made from thick material and are super soft. The elastic in them is great and stretches back and forth without them losing their shape. I was really impressed with the quality of these.
My son of course loved the fact that they had superheroes on them and was really excited to wear them and thought that he has being a bit of a rebel wearing them to school even though no one could actually see the superheroes and they still adhered to the school uniform code.
I asked my sister how much she paid for these socks and she said they were £4 which for a pack of three is pretty good value considering how good the quality of them is.
After being given a pretty impressive discount voucher for my local Peacock's store recently, I decided that I would bite the bullet and stock up on all the things that my children were desperate for, like pants and socks.
I don't normally pay that much for socks and such like, due in art to how quickly my children seem to be growing at the moment, but after perusing the sock setion my son was particularly taken with the socks I will now review for you, so who am I to refuse (especially when they were reasonably priced to start of with, let alone with 40% off!).
The socks I will now review are - "Marvels 3 pack socks - Spiderman, Captain America and
As the name obviously suggests, there are three pairs of socks in a pack, which for the price is really good value.
I will start by pointing out why my son was so taken with these, and then give the reasoning behind why I rate them so much.
For Connor these are the ultimate socks, they embrace everything he has going through his 5 year old mind at the moment.
Super heroes are always going to be appealing to a young boy, particularly one's he has just started getting into, with Spiderman being the main one, he tells me that he plays Spiderman everyday at school with his bestest buddies, with him even sneaking these socks into his school uniform daily (his socks are supposed to be a uniform blue/black colour, and these are bright red!).
Which brings me nicely to the other draw, the colours used in the designs.
Each sock (depending on the characters depicted, and there are other three packs available, off which we have all of them now!), is coloured to the brightest they can be, with the Spiderman one's obviously being bright red, with black detailing, Captain America is a vivid blue, with red and white detailing and the Wolverine is a bright acid yellow colour with blue and silver detailing.
Each sock has a large and very well designed picture of said characters, each being perfectly positioned to be seen (without shoes on obviously) with the characters being situated on the ankle and running down the topside of the foot .
Finally there is the Marvel trademark written in black across the underside of the foot.
Now my reasons for liking them, well the first is the fact that now my son will actually wear socks when in the house, instead of going barefoot, he always seems to have cold feet and refuses to wear his slippers for very long, so these have encouraged him to put some socks on for warmth, which they are!
The quality of these socks is second to none, with the material being very soft, with an almost chenille feel to them, and with them being quite thick too these are ideal to be used as winter socks, being a bit more substantial than some of the cotton school socks available.
The elasticated ridge around the top of the sock is soft and about ½" wide, these hold the socks up beautifully when required to, and even after repeated wearing and washing have yet to give way, I have "younger" socks than these and these have started disappearing into the toes of my boots about five minutes into wearing them!
The price for these three pairs are £4.50, and yes I do now own, or I should say my son now owns all the types available, with these containing the afore mentioned, and the "Juggarnaught", "iron man" and the "silver surfer" to name but a few.
Sizes tend to start at around 2-3 years old, going up to 7-8 then missing out a few years, and after a little investigation even come in adult versions, though these have at least a slightly more sedate colouring to the leg part of the sock, with the guilty secrets of the sock being covered with your shoes or footwear!
I have to say the adults socks are also very appealing and I am seriously debating getting some for my hubby, him being a marvel comic fan in his youth too, I think he feels he has a secret bond or affinity with his son now!
These are available sporadically from peacocks, but are readily available from www.amazon.co.uk in all formats, and are also available at the price I have stated.
These are perfect for the little superheroes in your lives, well made, perfectly priced and hard wearing they are in short - SUPER!
