Burgundy Heavy Weight Leggings
Disadvantages: Nothing at all
I bought these leggings last winter and wore them pretty much everyday as they're amazingly comfy and so warm! I've recently started digging through my wardrobe for warm but comfy clothes as I can't be bothered to dress in jeans at the minute due to my bump sprouting and feeling like it's the size of a large exercise ball - which it isn't, but because i'm petite I do think it shows a bit more obvious than it would if I was a bit more chubby. Anyway, I dug these out of the back of my wardrobe and remembered how much I loved them, and so I decided to wear them today to my morning lecture.
These leggings look good as new after a year, they are not fading in colour and are in perfect shape (they've not lost their shape or gone baggy at all). The waistband is elasticated meaning it accomadated my little bump without looking silly or feeling uncomfortable, and the leggings look really fashionable, expensive and generally nice! These ones are burgundy, which is a nice shade of dark red - I think this is a really unusual colour and a bit different to the usual run of the mill leggings. I did buy these in a light brown colour at first but my boyfriend at the time laughed at me and said it looked ridiculous, so I opted for the red. Other colours include a gorgeous shade of navy blue, white, khaki, black, etc - there's a shade for everyone!
The design of the leggings are pretty average, they are ankle length and skin tight meaning that they simply look like (very!) skinny jeans. They have quite a thick waistband meaning that they look nice worn highwaisted with a nice top tucked in, and when matched with heels this creates quite a glam look rather than a slobby look like some people associate with leggings. I always wear pretty flats, heels or nice boots with these so that I don't look too dressed down, however because of the colour this isn't too much of a problem as they stand out from the crowd and are much more unusual and nice looking than the usual black leggings. They look gorgeous with a big chunky cardi, an oversized blazer or a big baggy vintage jumper in the current weather, and in the slightly warmer weather they don't look out of place with a t shirt, blouse or vest - they're very versatile. They do not have any texture to them (apart from the stitch detailing) and instead are smooth to the touch.
These leggings are quite a bit thicker than usual leggings and add alot more warmth than a usual pair of leggings would, however they won't keep you as warm as say a pair of jeans or jogging pants - because of this I wear a pair of tights underneath when I wear these leggings just to avoid feeling a bit chilly when i'm waiting around for friends or at the bus stop, and I wear long jumpers/cardi's with it anyway which keeps me warm. The leggings fit really well - snug but not uncomfortably tight and despite being skin tight they are really flattering in my opinion, they don't unflatteringly cling to any lumps and bumps and instead create a smooth kind of look to my legs - i'm not fat but I am quite self concious of my thighs, and I really like how these leggings make my legs look. They are not baggy around the knees or ankles either like a majority of leggings can be and they're overall a gorgeous, versatile and well fitting pair of leggings. They are also a total bargain at just £18!
