Last year Dave needed some new slippers but Father Christmas forgot to bring him any so we looked out for some in the January sales. He wanted some really warm ones as we live in an old cottage that gets draughts no matter what we do! Also, having a sense of humour, the dafter the slippers were the better he would like them.
We found just the slippers in Debenhams which cost us just £9.99 if I remember correctly.
To give them their proper name they are Warm and Cosy Men's Novelty Bear Feet 'Hibernation Wear' Fluffy Slippers - what a long name for a pair of slippers!
They have a soft, comfortable, polyester lining and a 'non-slip grip textured sole' and are advertised as being 'extremely comfortable to wear'. The large uppers are made from brown, polyester, fur type fabric with three rubber 'claws' spaced evenly across the front edge of each slipper so they look like the feet of a grizzly bear!
Dave wears his with his thick walking socks and he says that they keep his feet toasty and warm even when the wind is sending gale force draughts under our doors! The slippers are big and fluffy so they are ideal for teasing the cat too - I don't think he knows quite what to make of them!
These are available in sizes UK 7 to 12 and, as such, are technically classed as man's slippers but ladies can also wear them - although if you have small feet you're out of luck! I am a size 6 and have borrowed these and find them comfortable enough when worn with my thick Heat Holder Socks and I definitely found them as warm and comfortable as hubby said they were!
The only down side to these slippers is the sole. We bought them in January 2012 and by Christmas of that year the soles of the slippers had pretty much dropped to bits even though Dave and I only wore them when it was very cold and they were never worn outdoors. The uppers themselves are still fine and if the soles were a little stronger the slippers would have lasted a lot longer.
In conclusion I would recommend these slippers as fun gift providing you remember that they won't last as long as a pair with a stronger sole would have done and they are not suitable for outdoor wear either.
For that reason it has to be just four stars from me on this one.
