Recently I've been trying to smarten up my wardrobe - I've gotten a bit tired of being a tomboy and have started buying dresses, and one of the ones I have purchased recently is this Military tunic dress from Curvylicious, which currently costs £18 in the black, but which I only paid £14 for a few weeks ago. It's available in a range of colours Purple, Teal, Blue, Grey among others, but I decided to play it safe and go for black, since I know black suits me.
The dress is made from a very soft and strokable material - sort or like jersey, but even softer, and although it has a matte finish, the black sort of reflects the light when being worn, which I really like, as it makes all the little details, such as the slight ruching around the shoulder and the ribbons across the chest area really stand out. It has a lovely long attached belt that can tie around the back to adjust the fit, and I ordered mine in a 22-24 - I would say it's a very generously sized item, plus the material is very stretchy, so I'd advise not cutting the tags off until you're sure you're happy with the fit.
Across the chest are three jersey ribbons, with burnished metal effect buttons either side, each button featuring a crest. The dress has a deep square neckline, which for me as someone quite proud of my bosom, is a flattering way to display the smooth skin of my decollette, and a hint of the actual boobs, without being out and out tarty. In fact, when standing and sitting it is actually quite modest, but when leaning forward, it becomes a little more revealing - it's a great dress for flirting in!
The material is light and soft, and falls well to just below my knees in flat shoes, and just above in heels. It's not so short as to risk knicker flashing when getting in and out of cars, but it's not long and frumpy either. I have worn this on it's own with heels, and also over leggings on colder days - it works well either as a dress or a long length top.
I really like this dress. I adore the fit, and the neckline, and the black colour is very slimming. And at the £14 I paid for it is excellent value. I'm actually thinking of buying another one in a more vibrant colour, as whilst the black is great for evening wear, it's perhaps a little gloomy for summer day wear.
5 stars, a fabulous frock.
