Advantages: Great jeans and denim wear, good for casual day wear

Disadvantages: Getting a bit too common? Expensive, not the place to shop for evening wear!

Say the label "Diesel" to most and they will think jeans. Yes, it seems that in the past couple of years Diesel has become the epitemy of coolness in Denim and jeans. Indeed I have also sucumbed to this craze and the first thing I ever owned with a Diesel label in it was a pair or jeans! As you can imagine with the current denim craze sweeping the UK Diesel is more in demand than ever.

Diesel can be mostly found in department store concessions, I know my local House of Fraser has a reasonable selection. However, with Diesel mania sweeping the nation it is more likely that there is a store coming to somewhere near you and we will get to see even larger clothing collections. At present Diesel shops are in London(Covent Garden and Selfridges), Bluewater in Kent, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Liverpool.

In addition, Diesel have launched their UK Virtual store at www.diesel.co.uk which is a great place to find all the latest news on both male and female fashion collections, Diesel luggage and fragrences, as well as competitions and general fashion information. You can even join the Diesel club although I am not sure what priveledges you get upon membership!

There is more to Diesel than just great jeans though, as they wish to emphasize Diesel stands for a way of life and they have promoted this with their "successful living" ethos.

Diesel deal in both male and female fashion. Indeed for both sexes the clothes that you see in the stores are of the more casual and street wear genre. For example, if I want jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts I will go to Diesel, If I want a dress for a Saturday night out I will try else where. Many of the t-shirts and sweatshirts bear the Diesel name, in a similar but more pricey way to Gap I guess.

There is no denying that Diesel clothing is expensive, at around £70 for a pair of jeans, £25-30 for a t-shirt and £50+ for a sweatshirt. However, you are paying for quality and som
ething that in most cases will last more than a season. One of the things that will make me buy Diesel time and time again is the durability of the clothing. For example, I have had my Diesel jeans for over 6 months now and I wear them a couple of times a week, with many washes they have retained their colour and shape with no wear patches.

However, the more popular and common Diesel gets the less appealing it becomes to me. When I first started checking out the Diesel concession it was something new that not everyone had, it was a bit of a hidden gem really. However, now everyone is desperate to get their hands on some of the clothing and I would even go as far as to say it is turning into the Levi's of the new Millenium.

I bought a pair of Diesel Industry stonewash jeans from USC in Nottingham during a sale and it cost me £35 instead of £70. I wear it all the time 'cos it's loose and unrestrictive.

AS I write this I am wearing my first pair of Diesel jeans (talk about coincidence) and I must admit I'm rather fond of them already! They cost £55 which is about the same as a pair of Levis.
