“ Brand: New Look / Type: Cardigan „
As a lot of people will already know, the hipster/boho trend is huge this year, and I admit that I have recently become a bit of a 'sheep' - I don't usually buy many clothes from high street stores such as Topshop, New Look etc - I prefer Vintage shops and boutiques, and TK Max is also fab for picking up original pieces, however when my friend picked this cardi up when we were browsing our local New Look around 3 weeks ago, I knew that I just had to have it. Most of the cardigans in my wardrobe are knitted or just one plain colour, whereas this is a pastel colour with a faded effect and it is made of a very thin, lightweight material making it ideal for the upcoming summer.
I paid £22.99 for my cardigan however it was recently reduced to just ten pounds on the New Look website. Although I paid almost £23 which will sound expensive to some people, I am reasonably happy with the price I paid as the cardigan is of decent quality and suprisingly versatile, as well as being very comfy. I am a little suprised that it has begun to bobble so quickly though.
I was worried that because the cardigan has quite an eye catching colour scheme it may clash with certain outfits, however I have found that it looks fine with almost any outfit. As I have the light greeny blue one, I avoided wearing my pale blue jeans with it at first, however when I finally did wear them together they did actually look really nice together - bright and summery and the outfit did not clash in the slightest. The cardigan can also be purchased in orange and yellow.
The design of the cardigan is quite basic to be honest. It is a boyfriend cardigan meaning it is longer than an average cardigan and it has a deep V neck. The cardi is just below mid-thigh on me and I am 5'3ish. There's five basic plastic buttons down the front and the fit is quite clingy rather than oversized, unless of course you buy a size or two bigger than your true size.
I love the dip dye effect of the cardigan as it is so in fashion, although I do find that it's very generic and everytime I go into town wearing this I worry a little that I'll see someone wearing excactly the same cardi as me, and I have - a few times. For someone like myself who praises themselves on dressing uniquely this isn't particullary great, but it's a nice basic cardi just to sling on when doing basic stuff such as shopping and doing erands - I would never wear it to a restraunt/pub etc though.
I find that this cardi goes with anything - shorts, leggings, jeans, skirts etc. I actually wore it last week (I think it was Tuesday) with some shorts and a vest and I just slung this over and wore it open as the weather was warm but there was a cold breeze so this kept me that bit warmer. It is made of 100 percent cotton and is soft and smooth to the touch. It is machine washable and washes well, however I have only washed mine a handful of times and it has already started to slightly bobble, which I am not impressed by seeing as it was quite expensive, however the bobbling is only slight and not noticeable unless you pay very close attention.
The cardi is available in sizes 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18. It is also available in New Looks inspire range which goes up to a size 26 I think. I got a size eight and found that although it fitted well it isn't at all oversized or slouchy so if you want it to be a bit baggy I reccomend buying a size or two bigger than your true size.
Overall, I like the design of the cardi and it's very versatile. I do reccomend it and give it 4 out of 5 stars. I knocked one star off due to the slight bobbling.
This cardigan is gorgeous and for the price its a bargain you really cant afford to miss! The pastel shades are great for summer and this cardigan is so versatile, You can wear with dark or light jeans, shorts, dress, playsuits.Looks good left open if it gets on the warm side and fastened if it gets chilly at night time!
