Dorothy Perkins isn't one of my favourite stores I check the website every now and again when I'm bored but other than that I don't really venture in store. When checking the website one day I came across this Denim jacket and had wanted one for so long so the next day I went to my nearest store and luckily enough
managed to pick this item up in my size.
The denim jacket is quite light denim and is more of a pale blue with white tints, this pale colour is great for the summer as it really sets a tan off if you roll the sleeves up on the jacket!
It has 2 envelope type pockets on the top of the jacket which have bronze buttons on them these pockets are really only good for storing loose change anything bigger than that and they tend to fall out! The style of the jacket is cropped, it finished about 2 inches from my waist but again this is very fashionable.
The sleeves are long sleeved but they can be rolled up. The jacket has 5 buttons on the lapel which can be fastened.
There is detailing and piping down the front of the jacket which makes it look slim fitting there are also buckle type fastenings which also make the jacket slim fitting. The denim is quite thin but it is designed to be worn during the summer months but to feel the denim feels of great quality and the stitching is very precise.
At the time of purchase this jacket was available in size 6-22 so there is a wide spectrum of sizes. I'm a size 6/8 but chose a size 8 as the denim is quite restricting so a bigger size gives me the option to fasten the jacket if I want to.
I paid £32 for this jacket which really is a bargain as these jackets are very popular and as I've said it is good quality and a really stylish design. I would even go as far as saying I'd be willing to pay up to £45 for this jacket I wear it a lot!
So if you need a summer jacket you won't get one any more stylish or chic than this one!
This cropped denim jacket cost me £28 from Dorothy Perkins. I bought it while I was shopping earlier this year, I think it caught my eye in the shop because I'd seen someone wearing one similar to this one a while back, and while I was in the shop I remembered thinking how good it had looked on them. Also this was helped by the fact I had a voucher for there that I'd had for a while and needed to spend soon before it ran out, and if I remember correctly they also had an offer on which was 20% off for all students. So I weighed all my options up and decided to buy it.
Since I bought this I haven't worn it as much as I'd like to, to be honest. This is mainly due to all the bad weather conditions we've been having lately. Every morning I try and put it on hoping it will be OK but then as soon as I step out of the front door I start shivering and have to go back inside and swap it for something warmer. I have tried to wear it whenever I get the chance to, though. There's no point wearing this under a coat because then I'm just too warm! But I've worn it a lot for times when I go out for a meal, for example, because then I'm nice and warm indoors. So anyway this isn't the warmest of jackets and isn't really suitable to be used as a coat.
I love the style, though, shown in the picture provided. It is light wash denim, and I think it matches quite well the red tones that I have in my hair. Double denim is a bit last season but now and again I think its OK to wear this with jeans, as long as they're dark denim jeans though and not the same shade as the jacket. I mainly wear it with black leggings or over a floral dress or with a white vest and skirt. It matches well with most things I have in my wardrobe, denim usually does.
It is also fairly comfortable to wear this denim jacket. Some denim jackets can feel heavy on and be quite tight to wear and difficult to move around in, however this is not the case with this jacket. It's not comfy enough to sleep in but it is comfy enough to wear for a long time without wanting to get it off really badly. And you can always get it in a bigger size if you are really concerned that it might be too tight. Its available in a variety of different sizes so will almost definitely be one there to fit you.
Overall I would recommend the jacket. It is machine washable however because it is worn over clothes as a jacket and doesn't touch the skin this means you don't actually have to wash it that much. The price is reasonable enough especially if you have a student discount like me, but I have seen similar jackets to this one costing about £11 from Primark so its not the cheapest and you can get cheaper ones if you shop around.
