I hate cold feet and am always on the look out for snugly warm cosy socks to wear around the house and especially in bed when my feet seem to be the coldest and I find it difficult to drop off to sleep if my feet aren't warm. I bought these from a local shoe shop which had a stand selling Totes and other accessories and paid £6 for a pack of two. I have looked online and the recommended retail price is £7 so I did get them a bit cheaper. I bought the purple and pink ones but they also came in blue and pink and also purple and a light beige colour which they refer to as mid muted. They are called two tone socks which I can only assume is that because there are two colours in the pack as the socks are all one colour.
They are very soft and fluffy and are made of 78 per cent polyester, 20 per cent polyamide and 2 per cent elastane which gives them the stretch. They are one size and will fit sizes four to eight. I am a size five and find that they are a good fit without being too loose but as they do contain elastane I am sure that they would comfortably fit larger sizes. They are plain with the words ELLE which is stitched to the outside of the sock but it is quite small so is not too obtrusive.
As soon as I put the socks on they seem to warm my feet up very quickly and keep them feeling warm and toasty. Sometimes I find that if I wear them for bed I will still have them on the next morning but sometimes if I wake in the night I will kick them off as my feet are just too warm.
I have washed these socks numerous times and they have kept their fluffy texture and have not gone thin or bobbled at all. You can wash them up to 40 degrees but I do most of my washing at 30 degrees and they have been fine, however as I only wear them in the house they don't get really dirty, they just need freshening up.
I think that these are lovely soft and fluffy socks, they are not the most fashionable item but they do a great job of warming my feet and keeping them feeling cosy and toasty, and I think that if your feet are warm you feel warm all over.
One thing I own alot of is socks. I suffer with the cold terrible due to suffering ill health anyway and I have to admit to wearing socks in bed and out of it most of the time.....even in the summer!
These Elle socks I bought from a local discount store (Google if interested for a list of stockists). On line I found them retailing at £7.00 for two pairs but I paid a fiver for mine so I'm glad I got them cheaper!
They are available to purchase in twin packs containing two different coloured pairs of socks including Dusky Pink and Oatmeal, Navy and Pink, Purple and Pink and Purple/Mid Muted and mine are the Dusky Pink and Oatmeal option and that's because that's all the shop I was in had to offer but I really liked them anyway to be fair and most probably would have bought this colour option anyway!
Now although these are called two tone I find that a very misleading description of these socks because that makes us believe that the socks are two tone with two colours going on which isn't what these are. They are plain colours so one pair is Dusky Pink and the other is Oatmeal and I think that the reason they are called two tone must be because there they come in a twin pack....its odd but anyway....
When I think of the brand that is Elle I think about quality and luxury and that's what I got with these socks....they are quite simply wonderful and cosy. My pink pair is as the name suggests a dusky pink as is the oatmeal a beigy colour and on then the word Elle is neatly displayed to one side of each sock in smallish lettering. They are sized 4-8 and made from 78% Polyester 20% Polyamide and 2% Elastane and have a warm, teddy bear feel to them. They don't malt, fray or anything else adverse at all and they are a bit taller than ankle socks when on me.
They have no nasty elastic bits to poke into my skin though the tops are very gently elasticated to keep them up and they are soft, smooth and are lightweight on even though they are so thick and warm. I wash mine in my washing machine though they are not suitable to pop in the tumble drier, however I simply allow mine to dry naturally and even though I wash and wear my pairs often they haven't shrunk, coloured faded or begun to look worn at all.
I think even for the rrp of £7.00 for the two pairs that they are worth it because your getting really lovely quality and snuggly socks.....even better for a fiver though I may get some more lol!
Google for a list of stockists or look on Ebay and/or Amazon.

Cold feet are the most annoying part of winter. Even if the weather gets a bit chilly, my extremeties such as my hands and feet get icy cold and it just feels uncomfortable to do anything like watching TV for a long time. I have several pairs of thick and cosy socks and they were getting worn out from me wearing them frequently. So, I decided to get more decent pairs of thick woolly socks. I chose these Elle thick woolly socks, mainly because Elle seems to be a popular brand and I got them at a slightly lower price than normal retail price tag.
I got my pairs of Elle thick and cosy bed socks from TK Maxx; it's one of my favourite shops because I can buy good quality products at a lower price there. I paid £ 5.99 for two pairs of these Elle bed socks from TK Maxx compared to the normal selling price of £ 7.00. I normally buy cheap socks so these seems a bit expensive for me, but the quality and functionality of these socks are worth the price.
The pairs I have purchased are lilac and pink in colour. The thickness of the socks is very impressive and they feel so soft. As soon as I put these socks on, they cocoon my feet like a heating blanket and warm my feet up quickly. The socks are made with 78% polyester, 20% polyamide and 2% elastane. The socks have a elastic band at the top to keep the rim in place.
I have had these pairs since the beginning of last winter and they are still soft as new, albeit the kint is getting a bit pressed and I can slightly feel my footprint since I wear these socks whenever my feet get cold (which is most of the time during winter). They are very durable considering the number of times I have worn them.
Also, there is another use for these socks for me. I mostly wear boots when I go out rather than heels, so I wear this thick sock as a cushion for my feet during winter night outs. This really helps me walk quite a long distance between pubs and still be able to feel my legs at the end of the night.
Overall, these Elle soft and cosy bed socks are perfect for chilly winter nights. I would recommend these to anyone who are susceptible to cold feet like me.
Thank you for reading and reviewing. :) x
As anyone who has suffered from cold feet will know, irrespective of how tired you may be, it's practically impossible to get to sleep if your feet are like blocks of ice. Your whole attention becomes focused on trying to warm them up. Most of the year I don't have a problem with cold feet but during the recent cold snap I've endured several nights when it was impossible to get to sleep because my feet just wouldn't warm up. A remedy was required.
As this isn't an ongoing problem for me, the idea of investing in an electric blanket seemed a bit excessive especially as the rest of me has no problem getting warm. I can't stand hot water bottles which are too hot to begin with and then turn into something cold and rubbery for your feet to encounter in the middle of the night. Bed socks seemed the only viable alternative. Initially I improvised with a pair of old trainer socks but it wasn't an ideal solution as they weren't particularly warm and didn't solve the problem. It was clear I needed some specialist hosiery.
If ever I needed proof that I was turning into an old lady, it must be the day I bought myself bed socks! I bought this twin pack of Elle Two Tone Soft and Cosy bed socks from Bentalls in Bracknell for £7. These are widely available from many department stores or online from Sock Shop for roughly the same price.
The material is 78% polyester, 20% polyamide and 2% elastane knitted into a thick, plush and fluffy sock. The 'two tone' doesn't mean the socks are bi-coloured but that the pack comes as one pair of pink and one of beige socks. The pink is a sugary pastel shade and the beige, officially described as oatmeal, is a completely neutral shade that goes with anything. These ankle socks have the Elle logo stitched onto their outer edge meaning you always know which is right and left. The socks are one size designed to fit UK sizes 4 to 8.
The fact that these bed socks are listed under the Fashion category is somewhat misleading. Despite the label telling me that these are "Fashion, Fun and Feminine", I beg to differ. On really chilly nights, I've been known to tuck my pyjama bottoms into the socks making them about as far removed from fashionable nightwear as it's possible to get. However, what they lack in style, they more than make up for by their effectiveness. Despite being manufactured from totally man-made fibres, these socks live up to their name. They are definitely soft and cosy and guaranteed to warm up even the most frozen tootsies in record time. No sooner do I put these socks on than my feet begin to warm up and the socks seem to help feet to maintain an even temperature. I've never found my feet become too hot in these socks as they warm up your toes and then keep them cosy for the rest of the night.
I've now had these bed socks for about three months and I tend to wear them for a couple of nights before washing. They've therefore been washed very frequently and have maintained their colour, fluffiness and elasticity very well. They can be machine washed on a gentle programme at temperatures up to 40 degrees. They should not be tumble dried or ironed, however, probably because they'd melt!
I have only one word of warning about these bed socks. As the name implies, these are for wearing in bed and not as slippers. These socks don't have the non-slip bottoms found on slipper socks and so can prove dangerous when trying to walk on laminate flooring. I speak from bitter experience!
I'm definitely a convert to bed socks and intend to keep wearing these until Spring arrives. They may not be anyone's idea of fashion, fun or femininity but they have turned my little blocks of ice into cosy toes.
