I love jewellery As a very tomboyish, jeans and vest top kind of girl, jewellery, shoes, and accessories are how I stand out. Jewellery is also how I indulge my inner geek - some people collect comic books, cardboard cut outs, or posters, but if I like a film, a book, or a song, I'll buy jewellery to show it.
I've always been a huge fan of Lewis Carrol. Alice in Wonderland is a fantastic book that takes my mind on an exciting journey I never expected, and one of the most stand out images from reading the book is when she travels down the corridor, finding a bottle labelled 'Drink Me' that causes her to shrink in size so much that she can fit through the tiny door, but can't reach the key for it (until she Eats the Eat Me cake, anyway).
So, this quirky little necklace matches up with my interests nicely. You can see if fairly well in the image, a blocky small bottle, very reminiscent of the old chemists poison bottles, a reddy brown in colour, with a cork seal and enticingly labelled with 'Drink me'. All this, attached to a chain in a dull, almost grubby looking, gunmetal colour. The dirty look of the chain actually adds to the overall appeal of the necklace in my opinion, making it look old and oxidized.
The chain itself is a good length, around 27 inches, and on me it hangs resting on my chest - long enough to lift it for someone to look at without being uncomfortably close. The necklace has a fairly standard lobster claw clasp, which can be difficult to fasten on, I tend to ask for help fastening it when wearing. Weight wise, it isn't too heavy, and there certainly isn't any discomfort when wearing it, although I do find that it slightly stains my skin if I fall asleep wearing it due to the cheap metals used in making it.
I really like this necklace, I think for £8.99 (gift boxed) it's a nice, unusual piece that will draw a lot of attention and is comfortable to wear. I just wish it didn't make my neck green!
