In my opinion lots of basic t shirts and vests are wardrobe essesntials either for the warmer weather or as layers under cardigans or jumpers during the colder months. I've been stocking up on summery clothes recently as it's been quite warm here for the past few weeks, and I bought this particular top in quite a recent New Look splurge. Before I start describing it, i'd like to just note that the Dooyoo piccie doesn't do it much justice and it looks much better in the flesh!

This is quite a basic T shirt. It has a scooped neck with batwinged sleeves which I adore. The sleeves are described by New Look as 'short, fluted batwing style sleeves'. I love them as they add so much to an outfit and make the top much more versatile; it can be worn both casual and formal as it is easy to dress up or down. I was concerned that the sleeves would be baggy around my arms and therefor make them look fat, however because the sleeves themselves fit quite snuggly around the tops of my arms this isn't an issue as the 'batwing' part is attatched to the sides rather than the actual sleeve if that makes sense! In fact, rather than being unflatteringly baggy, I find that the sleeves are actually very flattering as they give a lovely, unusual floaty effect.

The batwing detail is only on the front of the sleeves and so from the back it looks just like a normal T shirt when my arms are by my sides, but if I lift my arms up the batwing detail is apparent. The fit of the T shirt is perfect, it's very well fitting and shows off my figure nicely. Although it is well fitting it doesn't feel uncomfortably tight or like it's too clingy as it's made from very soft and relaxed material, which is 95% cotton and 5% vicose. Sizes available are 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18. I wouldn't reccomend going a size bigger or smaller as the fit is just right and it certianly wouldn't look very nice oversized in my opinion. The material is very lightweight so it's ideal for summer.

Length wise, this comes just below my bum. I'm only 5'3 and because I bought it via the New Look website I expected it to fit how it fits on the moddle (just below the waistline), however i've just checked and it says that the model is 5'8 so it's obviously quite a bit longer on me! This doesn't bother me though as it's long enough to wear with leggings. I've also just recently had a baby and as a result still have around 6 pounds of excess flab on me - not a huge amount but I do feel very concious of my thighs at the minute when i'm wearing tight jeans, so with this I feel assured that any lumps or bumps are covered up!

I have this top in a lovely, summery coral shade which I chose because pastel colours are in season this spring and summer however New Look also stock more basic shades including white, black and grey. The top is quite sheer - not ridiculously so but with a black bra underneath it's slightly visible so I usually wear a white bandeau or a white bra under it to be on the safe side! Price wise, these tops are priced at an RRP of £6.99 which I think is a bargain for a high quality and stylish, in season item of clothing. Overall this is a lovely, summery top which looks good with any outfit. 100% reccomended.
