      A useful purchase

When I found out I was pregnant a couple of months ago my mind immediately turned to my wardrobe, after all what was I going to wear over my newly expanding tummy? One of the staple items in my wardrobe is a vest top as I wear them under virtually every outfit during both my time at work and home. Therefore when I spotted a pack of two maternity vest tops in Asda I popped them into my basket.

The pair of vest tops that I purchased came with one black and one white vest top in a pack. This was great in my opinion as I like to vary the colour of the vest depending on the top that I am wearing usually opting for the lighter vest when I am wearing a light shirt or blouse. Both look very functional in appearance and they certainly wouldn't win any awards for style with their slightly longer than usual sections of fabric and stretchy spaghetti straps. The composition of my particular vest tops is 96% cotton and 4% elastane. This ensures that the tops have an adequate amount of stretch and yet the cotton element ensures that they are breathable in my opinion.

In terms of the length of these vests they really are adequate for my 5 foot 6'' frame. I find that when worn under clothes they extend a couple of inches below my bump although I can see this length shrinking as my bump gets bigger. The stretch in these vests ensures that they feel comfortable on and the length is great at preventing my belly from being exposed when my tops ride up over my bump during the day.

To wash these particular vests I like to ensure that they are put in amongst items of a similar colour before washing on a cooler 30° wash cycle. I have had no issues with these vests shrinking or loosing their stretch after washing and indeed mine look as good today as they did when new. I do like to iron these tops as I do tend to iron everything in our house however the stretch in these vests means that you really shouldn't have to.

The vests that I purchased came in sizes eight to twenty and as I have had no extra weight gain aside from my expanding bump I opted for my usual size ten and these fit perfectly. The pair of vests cost me £6 from my local Asda which I consider a bargain and will certainly be returning to buy more in the near future.

Overall I think these were a great purchase and I can see myself using them for the months to come therefore they score an excellent five stars from me.

I hope this review has been of some help and thanks for reading! x

George 2 Pack Strappy Cotton Maternity Vest

When I was pregnant I almost always wore a vest top under my clothes, 1) because it was winter and I was heavily pregnant during the colder months of the year and 2) because I hated when my other tops would ride up a little and expose my belly to the world. I think by the end of my pregnancy I had about 12 of these George strappy cotton maternity vests, so about 6 packets in total. And despite not being pregnant now for some months I still end up wearing these under other tops because they are lovely and long.

The George strappy cotton maternity vests are just a simple strappy vest top but designed for an expanding belly, i.e., they have the usual pregnancy related ruffles down the side. I also found that the tops where quite generously sized and had a lovely and soft texture, while being quite a stretchy material. I am not sure if they are available in any other colours, but personally I only own the George strappy cotton maternity vests in white or black.

As you might expect you can purchase the George strappy cotton maternity vests from Asda stores, but I only ever found them in the larger Asda stores or online for £6. I personally really liked the vest tops, although I didn't like a lot of the other George maternity wear - not that there was much choice. And even with quite a lot of regular washing and wear the George strappy cotton maternity vests are still wearable.

Also even at my largest right before the hospital finally shoe horned my baby out the Maternity vests still fit me, which unfortunately at the time couldn't be said for all of my maternity clothes.

Overall, I would happily recommend the George strappy cotton maternity vests and if I am pregnant again in the future I would be more than happy to pick up some more packets to wear again.

        Four out of five stars.

Overall fanastic product for a fantastic price :)

I found out i was expecting in March & my bump seemed to just appear all of a sudden, which of course meant my clothes were quickly gettin too tight!

After asking around i found out thats Asda George online done a maternity range, which my local store dont actually display, so i went on to have a look.

I purchased quite a few things and my first bargain was these two strappy tops for £8 (£4 per top) i found this alot cheaper that most other maternity range department places soo decided to purchase these in a 12 (i am usually a 10 but have been told by many people to just go a size up with clothes as you get longer out them) however with the ASDA range i completley disagree, these tops are designed for your current size with sort of a little scrunch bit at your side/hips so that while your bump is expanding the top is to :)

The top is longer in length which i find perfect as it really does what it says and keeps your bump covered.

I am currently 6months and have been wearing these since 3months and they are still in fantastic condition, theres no bobbly bits and they are not going that horrible mis-shaped way, they can be wore in any weather whether its just on its own or under another shirt, jumper etc in the colder weather and they still look great!

These tops come in a 2 pack, one black & one white. The only thing i think ASDA should do is get a bigger variety in colours and stock them in my local store :)

A good pair of vest tops to hide a growing tummy

This is a review of a pack of two vest tops I bought from the George maternity range at ASDA. The pack contains two tops that are the same in design and one is black and one is white.

            Description
The tops are traditional vest tops with thin straps. The sides have a bit of gathered material to create extra room for your expanding tummy. It is a very discrete and hardly noticeable bit of detail and they do seem to grow with you so should see you through the duration of the pregnancy. The tops are 95% cotton and 5% elastane so they have a little stretch in the material which is good.

            Sizing
These tops are available in sizes 8 - 18 and I have found that they come up quite generous so you could even go down a size in these tops and they would still fit OK. I suppose it depends on how big you get but I don't seem to get a lot bigger during pregnancy, just more solid.

            Price
The two tops are priced £8, which is quite reasonable I think. George have been selling them for a few years now as I bought mine in 2010 but I noticed the same ones in store this week.

            My thoughts
Obviously these are summer tops so it depends on the timing of your pregnancy whether you will need them or not. I find them useful as under layers during winter or if you have a low cut top, they will give you a modesty panel. I like that they are very generous in body length too so no flashing front or back with these thank goodness. One other thing to mention is that they have those annoying silky straps that you use to hang them up. I don't hang vests in my wardrobe, they are folded in a drawer so the straps are snipped off straight away as I find they tend to hang out all the time even when I have deliberately tucked them in. I know these straps help the shops to display items and keep them hanging up neat in store but they do irritate me how they seem to be designed to oust themselves outwards when wearing!

            Colours
As far as I can tell, these tops are only available in black and white which is a great colour staple anyway as they will go with most things and are a good starting point but I wonder if ASDA might think to introduce other colours in the range as it can get a bit boring during pregnancy to stick to a monochrome wardrobe!

            Final word
I think these vest tops are excellent value for money and mine are going through the mill with me second time round and they truly look as good as new, no bobbling and the black has stayed jet black and the white is still sparkling white. I will pass them on to a good home once I am finished with them. I was tempted to buy a second set of these tops when I saw them in store earlier this week but I managed to stop myself as I think really I can work with two tops. For the price paid I am happy with these tops and feel they are a good flattering fit and give you nice coverage at a time when you may be conscious of your body's changing shape.
