Back in August of this year it was that time of year again when we had to go ‘Back To School’ shopping. The hardest thing about shopping for a child of 5 years old that is going back to school is finding the uniform that fits properly. We had already been out and purchased him a new bag etc just after the end of the last school year, but because of how quickly some kids can grow in a short space of time we decided it best to leave the uniform until last.

Last year we ordered the trousers, shoes and T-shirts from Littlewoods and did actually attempt to do the same this year but had left it too late and they only had the trousers and shoes in stock. So it was time to hunt elsewhere for the shirts. The problem is that we found the size 4-5 years in most places was too small and 5-6 was too big.

It had not crossed our minds about looking for them in ASDA’s George range of clothing. It was a pure coincidence that as we were in Bexleyheath, Kent shopping anyway we popped into ASDA to grab some essential food shopping. It was then we came across was it quite a large section of clothing. This too me was a bit of a surprise as like a lot of people I suppose when they think of ASDA it is food shopping that comes to mind not clothing.

It was in there that they had a huge section for back to school which included white polo shirts which was what we needed. Being as these were for a 5 year old boy we did not want to spend a fortune as they don’t last very long by the time things get spilt down them and stain and they get torn whilst he is playing.

After a few minutes of looking we came across a section of white polo shirts and nothing else. The problem now, what size? Could we get him to try one of each on, probably not? This would not be an easy thing to achieve when all he wanted to do was to run around. So it was time to guess and we did at the size of 4-5 years.

We then had a think about how many to get and was going to buy 4 polo shirts, but then spotted a two pack for only £2.50, for this price we could not go wrong so opted for three packs, giving us six polo shirts in total. Because of the way they were packaged it was not really possible to open them up and check the quality of them because although we did not wanna spend a fortune on them we wanted something that would be comfortable to wear.

In total these six polo shirts cost us all of £7.50 and for this price I have to say they were a perfect bargain. On getting them home we managed to get Ben to try them on and it has to be said they were better than the ones we had bought last year for a more expensive price.

Ben has now been back at school for about 4 weeks now and not a problem what so ever with the shirts. They are off a great quality and from what we can tell comfortable to wear as he keeps them on all day without a problem and he is not one of these children that will keep them on if he doesn’t like them. A good sign I suppose.

They are made of 100% cotton so they are also very easy to iron and for those of you that have ready my previous review will know that’s not something I like doing.

Since then we have been back and purchased a few other items of clothing for us and for Ben from ASDA George range and have been completely satisfied with the lot. The best thing though has to be said is the prices. But take one look at the clothes and you would not believe some of the items were priced at what they are. Some examples of their pricing for the items we purchased are a long sleeve top for £3.50, a couple of pairs of corded trousers for £5.00 each. These are just some of the items we purchased for Ben.

But why stop there they do a large range of clothing for men and women as well as boys and girls, baby wear and even a range of what they call dressing up where you can get kids costumes such as Halloween outfits etc. Within the men’s and women’s departments they have a range of clothes, including smart and casual as well as a range of shoes, trainers and would you believe tailored suites. All this from what most people consider a food supermarket. What a great idea though shop for new clothes at the same time as doing that awful food shopping.

As far as the customer service goes they are always very very helpful be it just for assistance, returns or if you want to try something on. Be prepared to wait for a changing room though as the clothing is getting more and more popular and so are the changing rooms. Returns for us have never been a problem as everything we bought has fitted and not had to go back but from what I can see they don’t have any issues with their returns policy.

Overall I urge you to take a look next time you are either in ASDA shopping, near an ASDA or just looking for some new clothes, I have not seen a range of clothes that are so good quality for such a low price.
