Advantages: cheaper ranges of clothes

Disadvantages: quality not always too good

Inside Asda supermarkets you'll find their own fashion label by the name of "George". Most people will have heard if not bought from this range at one time or another. Known for its value, the clothes and accessories hold a wide variety for supermarket clothing.

George at Asda was launched by the designer named George Davies in 1990. They started off in around five stores, whereas now the range is available in over 250 stores. George Davies is also attached to designing ranges at Next and more recently the Pur Una range at Marks and Spencer.
If you look closely in Asda and Next more often than not you will find products that are very similar in design, with a difference in the price.

A couple of examples on prices between the two stores are that two toddler girls tops will cost in the region of £3 in George, whilst at Next they will be more like £5.
I also bought my partner a suit last minute once when we were due at a wedding and his suit didn't fit properly after being sat in the wardrobe for ages. We nipped into Asda and picked up a basic one for under £50. It was a bargain. He now wears it for work and it looks just as nice as some more expensive ones.

George at Asda stocks many items from girls, boys, men's, ladies and all the shoes, accessories and bags in between.
They do have a good range of clothes available in most stores. All of which fit the current seasons trends, as well as some basic ranges of clothing. I personally haven't tried those ranges but would consider it for messy play etc.
I always have a good browse when I'm passing a store as I am guaranteed to find something I want to buy. There is usually a good selection of sale items to choose from as well. Never anything in the right sizes for me though.

The quality of clothes at George I find lacks more when it comes to the children's wear. After a few washes I find some of the clothes I have bought lose their shape slightly quicker than other stores. The quality of the material it's made from however seems great and nothing usually falls apart on me.
The adult clothes I have found are much better quality for continual wear.

Asda at George also stock a wide range of children's accessories including hair accessories and watches. These are all really reasonably priced and I find they are just as good as what you can buy in Next for a fraction of the price. It makes them really good for children's party bags, or even presents.

Upon looking on the George website, they boast about their ethical code which states they don't underpay workers and don't charge huge profit margins on their clothes which is why they can sell for such good value. The whole document is available to read at George.com if you wish to.

I would recommend shopping at George if you're on a budget as you'll certainly always get more for your money. You do get what you pay for, however as children grow so quickly I sometimes don't see the point in spending a fortune on their everyday clothes.

Summary: a discounted range of clothing

Nice review. Unfortunately I refuse to use George clothing now after an incident we had with them though.
