Advantages: Often have nice clothes, good selection
Disadvantages: Cheaper items used to gain attention, not particularly cheap
There is a super huge Asda near where I live now, so for the first time ever I'm able to walk there and buy clothes from the George range.
There is a large section for clothes; almost like a small shop in itself, which stocks everything from underwear to party wear. I've noticed, as is typical of most unisex clothes shops, that the focus is predominantly on women's clothes.
There is a big choice, particularly of suitable office wear and plain casual wear which is good. I'm not so keen on the patterned things as they tend to look very young or very cheap.
They have a good selection of underwear and nightwear to suit all tastes. They also stock the Katie Price aka Jordan range.
Unfortunately I can't comment on the kids' or men's clothes since I don't pay much attention; however I have noticed they do seem to have a fairly wide range of kids' clothes and shoes.
One thing I've noticed is that although the clothes are quite cheap, they don't last a massively long time. I have one top in particular that's gone very bobbly, but it feels quite cheap and not all the clothes do so perhaps that's why.
Also I'd say that they aren't really that cheap, especially up against Primark, Peacocks and similar high street stores.
I've noticed their tactic is to sell something - say, a particular range of winter coats - very cheaply, and surround them with more expensive versions. This of course means things are sold out very quickly, and the size 24s and 26s that are left means if you're desperate, you're forced to browse the far more expensive coats surrounding them. Often, the deals are good when you can snatch them though, but if you see it you need to grab it because by the time you coe back, they will have gone. And you can always put it back if you change your mind later on.
Not a place I'd buy many clothes at, but for the occasional good buy or nice item it's worth it.
Summary: Good for the occasional browse

- 01/12/08 Yeah, I think Adsa is a great place for socks, underwear and jumpers, but for more 'showpiece' items like trousers or T shirts, I go elsewhere. |
