Great Coat for a Great Price!

When Little Man started full time school I decided it was time to get a new winter coat for the school run. I didn't want anything too mumsy, but I needed something with a hood as I am normally juggling Little Man with either his wheelchair or crutches, which doesn't leave a spare hand for a brolly! After what felt like an age looking I finally found this one in Asda for £25.

My coat is actually a dark grey colour, not the burgundy in the picture, which I think looks really smart although I am tempted to go back and get the burgundy one as well as I like this coat so much! The outer of the coat has a wool feel to it but is very soft, as a lot of the ones I tried were quite scratchy. The coat is only 3% wool, although I was surprised to find any wool for such a bargain price - the rest of the outer is made up of 60% polyester, 24% acrylic, 12% viscose & 1% nylon. The lining is 100% polyester in a dark grey.

The Jacket is fastened with 3 poppers which I was concerned may pop open. I only use the button two poppers as I hate anything around my neck, and they have not yet popped undone. There are three buckles across the chest which also fasten with poppers, which I think look much smarter than the toggle design and gives it a bit of a trendy military feel.

The Jacket washes really nicely too - I recently brushed up against a freshly glossed door and thought I had ruined it, but a bit of stain remover spray and a standard 40 degree wash and it was as good as new. It says to iron on the reverse but I just hung it damp overnight and it was ready to wear in the morning. The coat cannot be tumble dried.

I bought my coat in a size 18, so that I can layer it up if I want to. I am 5 feet 5inches, and the coat sits mid-thigh on me which is a great length as it covers my bum! It looks really smart with leggings and boots and I get lots of complements on my lovely coat - no one believes what it cost! I am normally quite a warm person so this coat is plenty warm enough for me, even with only a t-shirt underneath, so I think it will be fine for the winter for me. Although it is not billed as a waterproof coat, it has managed to keep me dry despite some of the awful rainstorms I have been caught up in!

As you can probably tell I really love this coat, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced smart jacket. I do find that the hood feels a bit big on me, but I think this is more because I'm not used to wearing a hood rather than it being a fault with the coat! It is available in Asda stores and from George.com in sizes 8 - 22, with a smaller version available in purple and red for little girls too!

A nice coat at a nice price.

~*~*~ George Hooded Duffle Coat ~*~*~

I was looking for a warm yet smart coat for winter and I was pleased to find this coat in my local Asda store. Priced at a decent £25.00 with a choice of two colours it seemed like a really good find.
The colours available in store were a light grey colour and a purpley colour that is more commonly known as burgundy although it has a more purple colour to it rather than a red. Anyway I went for the purpley colour as I have a few grey coloured coats already.

What first drew me to this was the leather look and gold clasp like buckles on the front. It looked quite different to the usual toggles you would usually see on a duffle coat and I thought it made the coat look quite special. It wasn't until I tried it on that I found out the buckles are fake and underneath is a simple press stud fastening!

The jacket has a nice fitted shape and a nipped in waist, the sleeves has a slight puff to the shoulder but nothing 80's style! And as well as a hood it also has a nice rounded collar.
It also has two pockets as you would expect.

The inside of the coat is lined in a polyester material in the same colour as the coat. The stitching is all very neat and tidy as would be expected.

The coat is made from a polyester, acrylic, viscose and wool mix, I expected this to be an itchy material however it is surprisingly soft and that is why I did end up buying it.

There is no zip so the only fastenings are the three popper type fastenings on the front, however they feel quite strong and don't just pop open willy nilly!

I bought this is a size 14 so I would be able to wear jumpers or cardigans underneath it quite comfortably and this is the ideal size, it feels looser if I have a thin top under it but feels just right when I am layered up.

The coat can be washed in the washing machine which makes it more convenient than dry clean only types.

I like this coat, it's quite flattering with jeans or leggins/jeggings as it comes down below my bum (I am 5ft 1/2 inch), I would recommend wearing more than a t-shirt under it though as it actually isn't as warm as it looks.

This can be bought in store in Asda branches with a George department, or alternatively online at www.direct.asda.com.

      Thanks for reading :o) x
