“ Brand: H! by Henry Holland „
Like most girls I love clothes, and I particularly like finding cute and quirky pieces of clothing with animal designs. This Bunny Ochre Blouse is one of my favourite pieces and is available exclusively from Debebhams as part of the H! by Henry Holland collection. It costs RRP £25.00, but I was able to get it at a reduced price in the sale.
Product description: "This dark yellow bunny ochre blouse from H! by Henry Holland features a vintage Peter Pan collar, matching the storybook style rabbit print, given a contemporary edge with the cropped style and tie front. This sheered blouse is finished with short puff sleeves."
I first spotted this blouse when I saw a girl wearing it as I walked through the train station, fell in love with it instantly, and then promptly forgot all about it. Several months later I was browsing the clothing rails in Debenhams, and there it was, my bunny blouse! There was only one left in stock and it happened to be reduced so I thought my luck was in. However, the catch was that the blouse is a size 16, which is 3 dress sizes bigger than my actual size. I tried it on in the dressing room and decided to buy it anyway as I could see the potential for a few different styling possibilities.
The blouse is made of a lightweight crepey fabric with a chiffon sort of feel to it. This gives a nice flowing effect when worn, and looks very flattering on the body. It has cute little short puff sleeves and a Peter Pan collar to add some extra detail around the neckline. The blouse buttons up at the front and finishes with a knotted tie section at the bottom edge. This is the key element that allows me to get away with wearing an oversized blouse without it looking badly fitted. The blouse suits being worn simply as is; with the buttons done up and knotted at the bottom to pull it in around the waist section. It is slightly cropped, but not enough to be very revealing and I often wear it to work with a basic vest top underneath, or over a slip dress to cover my shoulders. My favourite way to fasten the blouse is to leave the bottom one or two buttons undone, and then tie the knotted section a little tighter and higher, so it really pulls in the excess fabric and makes more of a feature of the tie-front. It also works well with a preppy look if you like to wear tops buttoned right up to the top of the neck, and can be paired with a plain sweater or jacket to balance out the loud design of the blouse.
Not only do I love fashion but I also love my pets and am a proud bunny mama. I like to wear clothes with printed animal designs as it reflects a part of my personality. This blouse has a bright yellow background colour, with a rabbit pattern all over. The rabbits are quite large and provide a lovely playful feel to this piece. They look very cute and there is a high level of attention to detail, with two different bunny images being used to repeat over the fabric. One of the bunnies has a face-on view, and the other has a side on view in a face-washing pose which is just adorable. There is further detail with the bunnies themselves wearing very dapper little red bow ties, which adds another level to the quirky feel of this blouse. I like to accessorise this with matching jewellery, in particular I have a very gaudy plastic ring with a red bow design and this matches nicely with the detail on the fabric.
The blouse is 100% polyester which makes it easy to care for and I throw it in the washing machine on my usual 30 degree cycle. It has an added bonus in that it doesn't seem to retain any creases after being hung out to dry on the line and so as soon as it's washed and dry it's ready to wear again. The only issue I've come across at all is that no matter how hard I try to position it properly, one side of the collar does not ever seem to lay flat and stay in place. Upon further inspection I think there is a flaw in the construction where a slightly mis-placed stitch has pulled the fabric over to one side a little.
Overall I think this is a gorgeous top and I absolutely adore the rabbit print. I would say it's best suited to younger women, or those who can rock a quirky preppy look. Wearing this top always puts a smile on my face and it gets a lot of attention from people as the design is so eye-catching. The H! by Henry Holland range at Debenhams is a fantastic way to get hold of a Henry Holland design at a snip of the price of his mainline collections, and there are always fun and quirky pieces to choose from. I do have a very similar shirt which I purchased from ASOS (and have previously reviewed) and they both deserve their place in my wardrobe. This bunny blouse is a real winner if you like to wear conversation-starting pieces and have a bit of fun with your fashion.
