“ Brand: Henry Holland at Debenhams / Type: Jumper „
I am a big fan of the Henry Holland clothes range available at Debenhams. His designs are cute, quirky and have lots of personality. Debenhams have recently announced a huge increase in sales in the H! by Henry Holland range and I'm not surprised. One of the items currently available to purchase is this ultra cutenavy striped dog motif jumper. I basically live for dogs so when I saw this top I knew it'd be the perfect way of expressing my character.
The jumper is for sale both online at Debenhams website or in store. You can also get it from other Debenhams outlets like Amazon.co.uk.
The jumper design is that of dark navy blue and white stripes on the front and back. The sleeves are long and there are long ribbed blue cuffs. The neckline is also banded wth blue. A navy blue Jack Russell dog motif is sewn into the design and sits high on the jumper across the bust. It's a quirky, casual piece that I've been having fun wearing.
I am a size 12-14 on top so when I purchased the jumper I tried both the size 12 and size 14 on. Both sizes fit me but the size 12 was close fitting whilst the 14 is loose. I guess it depends what style you like to wear things but I'd say the sizes are quite accurate if you intend to buy this online. The dog motif sits plum in the middle of the top and due to the fact I have a big bust I found that the looser size 14 allowed the motif to curve over my body rather than catch and stick out where the edges of the motif were sewn.
The jumper is quite thin and light and is made from 100% cotton. It feels like a soft wool and feels comfortable when on. It's not extremely warming though and allows your skin to breathe a little. It's perfect for the cool autumn, mild winter days and early spring period.
The way the jumper has been created and sewn is a bit of a problem for me. The dog motif has a reinforced panel on the inside of the jumper. Around this, on my particular jumper, it appears that the loose ends from the back of the motif have been woven back into the jumper around the motif. So I acutally have one very long piece of thread that hangs down from one of the navy stripes and which I don't think is secure at all. Another issue I have is that when I bought this jumper and got it home I discovered that on the dog motif there is a speck of white on his navy ear. I originally thought this must be the design but then returned to the store and looked at other jumpers and all of them had pure navy ears. It's a flaw on my particular jumper so watch out for that. I have had to come around to thinking that I don't mind the jumper having a speck of white on the dog design as it means mine is individual but to be honest I would rather have one without a fault!
The jumper has two ribbons sewn into the shoulders to help secure on a hanger but I found these hung out from the neck when I wore it so I have had to cut them out. The jumper also has the H! by Henry Holland tag at the neck and a Debenhams care label sewn into the side.
You can machine wash the jumper at 40 degrees and you must turn it inside out. I do worry about this when I put it in the machine because I'm afraid the loose threads on the back will catch and pull. You need to dry flat and reshape if necessary. The jumper requires very little pressing to return to a neat and ironed shape. You should use the coolest iron setting.
The jumper cost me £20 in the Debenhams flash sale but is normally priced at £25. I have seen many similar jumpers with animal pictures on them and think that the pricetag is reasonable in comparison.
I really like the design, look and effect of this jumper and I love to wear it. I feel it is a piece that really expresses who I am as a person and what my personality is like. I love to wear it for casual days out and for hanging out with friends and family. Some of my family have recognised this as a Henry Holland design because his style is so unique. My only issue with the jumper is the actual finish. Mine has a fault in it so be sure to check yours before buying. I also constantly worry that the edges of the dog motif will slowly unravel.
You can buy this at the debenhams website in sizes 6-18. The Jack Russell motif or 'Jack' as Holland refers to it has been a recurring design in recent seasonal Henry Holland ranges so watch out for further doggy clothes in the future if you like this sort of thing!
